The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Prince George’s County Department of Parks and Recreation, Natural and Historic Resources Division, is seeking a part-time year-round Museum Program Assistant to fill a vacancy at the Marietta House Museum in Glenn Dale, MD. Marietta House, built circa 1813, is the former home of Supreme Court Justice, Gabriel Duvall. Through social justice educational lens, the museum explores the histories of generations of the Duvall family and the free and enslaved families who lived and labored at Marietta. The museum provides guided tours, exhibits and public programs.
This position requires previous tour guide experience, minor maintenance skills, and excellent verbal and written communications skills. Interest in working with children and adults is necessary.

Examples of Important Duties
Lead guided tours weekdays and occasional weekends
Keep pathways and parking lots clean and clear
Minor maintenance at museum, conference room, lobby, and outbuildings
Assist staff set up and take down public program tables and chairs
And other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Be at least 21 years old.
High School diploma
Interest in American history
One year of related museum experience
Valid driver’s license.
One year janitorial or maintenance experience
Supplemental Information
Part-time position working an average of 15 hours/week
Salary is $16.00-$21.44 based on experience and qualifications.
Work hours include weekdays, evenings, and weekends

Limited Benefits for Seasonal Employees
Health Insurance Plans
You are eligible for specific health insurance benefits if you worked, on average, 30 hours per week during your first 12 months of employment or from October 3rd to October 2nd each subsequent period following your first 12 months of employment. This equates to 1,560 hours over a 12-month period.
If and when you are eligible for benefits, you will receive notification directly from the Health & Benefits Office.
Eligible Employees Pay 35% of the health insurance plan premium and The Commission Pays 65%.
