Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

Salary Range

$66,700.00 – $110,100.00

What Is the Opportunity?

Under Moderate Supervision, develops data and analytics that support profit and loss in a region, or part of a region. Provides detailed analysis of product, pricing, and growth at a regional, and state level. Supports the formulation and implementation of state strategies through increased analysis and focus on competitor behaviors, marketplace dynamics, pricing segmentation and household level analysis. This position does not manage others.

What Will You Do?

  • Prepares multiple states rate filings, at various stages of completion, at a time, including product, pricing and regulatory issues.
  • Analyzes trends and results for Personal Lines products across multiple states.
  • Gathers data/information and performs analysis in support of rate changes.
  • Supports improvement to procedures/workflow between functions and field partners.
  • Supports the development of workflow practices across Personal Insurance Product Management that reduce redundancy and establish consistency.
  • Develops collaborative relationships with field partners that supports state strategies.
  • Presents findings of analysis to management on a periodic basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • Bachelors degree in business management, mathematics, management information, finance, actuarial science, economics or other related field.
  • 2 years of experience in data analytics.
  • Experience working in financial services industry preferred.
  • General knowledge of Personal Lines products and systems.
  • Working knowledge of Pricing and Actuarial techniques.
  • Technical Knowledge/Critical Thinking:
  • Able to extract and analyze competitive data.
  • Team Orientation:
  • Ability to interact with the field sales team, work with DOI and connections within the Industry to gather competitive intelligence.
  • Planning and Project Management:
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Communication Skills:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge:
  • Understands basic actuarial concepts such as loss development and trending.
  • Solid understanding of competitive analysis tools.
  • Understanding of basic ratemaking and its application, such as profitability, risk loads, etc.
  • Solid understanding of techniques and models used to forecast insurance financials.
  • Understands and is able to access available sources of Travelers and Industry trend information.
  • Solid understanding of and good working relationship with claim, business centers, call centers, and information technology. Understands the workflow and terminology of these areas and their impact on PL.
  • Solid knowledge of Excel, Access, and Word.

What is a Must Have?

  • Bachelors degree required.
  • General Knowledge of Microsoft office products (Excel, Word, Powerpoint).
