Marketing Analytics Manager (Retention and Engagement)

Job Description:

The Dow Jones Marketing Analytics team is seeking a Marketing Analytics Manager (Retention and Engagement) with extensive experience in working with customer data, as well as exceptional communication and problem-solving skills. This position will be responsible for leading the analytics workstreams surrounding subscriber retention and engagement for Dow Jones’ consumer brands, including The Wall Street Journal, MarketWatch, and Barron’s.

As a Marketing Analytics Manager, you will work closely with stakeholders in the CRM Marketing organization, using analytics to make clear recommendations and guide strategy. This will include developing and applying the right measurement framework for engagement performance. You will partner with a diverse group of stakeholders, including Marketing, Product, and Customer Service. The ideal candidate will be a process thinker with a consultant-like mindset, capable of diagnosing problems, identifying opportunities for internal improvement, and driving long-term solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of metrics/measurement frameworks and automated reporting on subscriber retention and engagement.
  • Identify ways to get information quicker, standing up dashboards that provide engagement and retention marketers with real-time insights. Find elegant ways to distill complex collections of metrics into streamlined visuals and tools.
  • Analyze and report on the results of A/B tests that impact customer retention, conduct cohort analysis with respect to marketing interventions and product experiments, and identify which marketing activities and product features are driving customer retention.
  • Communicate effectively with team members across the organization, identifying requirements, reporting on important success metrics, and remediating discrepancies.
  • Identify opportunities for creative ways to engage and retain our subscribers, with a focus on strengthening sticky habits. Ask smart questions, diagnose the problem, and develop long-term solutions.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging data analysis technologies and best practices, proactively identifying opportunities to improve processes, and providing thought leadership on data analysis and visualization.

Qualifications:

  • 4-6 years of experience in a data role with heavy direct exposure to marketing and product teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree with a well-rounded academic background, including analytics, business, and liberal arts coursework.
  • Advanced SQL skills, as well as expertise in scripting languages such as Python or R.
  • Expertise in analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Appsflyer, Optimizely, Tableau, Looker, BigQuery, AdServer and DSP.
  • Demonstrated expertise in data analysis and visualization, including experience with data manipulation, statistical analysis, and data storytelling.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Entrepreneurial, curious, able to easily distill complex problems, and an interest in media and marketing.

Pay Range: $65,000 – $200,000
