Position Summary
As a Marketing and Communications Manager, you will play a pivotal role in crafting and executing comprehensive marketing and communication plans to enhance brand visibility, engage target audiences, and drive enrollment growth. This dynamic position demands a creative thinker with strong leadership abilities and a passion for staying ahead of industry trends. The Marketing and Communications Manager will work closely with many stakeholders: faculty, staff, and students. Building and maintaining solid relationships that help tell the story of the Korbel School and its initiatives: research, student life, admissions journey, careers, alum engagement, and donor relations. This role maintains internal and external communication tactics across an omnichannel environment to boost engagement, awareness, and conversions. The communications manager will be vital in developing written and visual content.
Essential Functions
- Assist the Associate Director of Marketing and Communication in developing a content strategy to highlight the story of the Korbel School.
- Set and maintain content requirements and standards, creating unique channel-specific deliverables for various plans and projects.
- Actively manage the schools social media channels.
- Update the Korbel website and develop content for pages.
- Assists with reporting of communication and marketing initiatives analytics using quantitative and qualitative data.
- Manage email marketing.
- Create and draft articles, talking points, op-eds blogs, external and internal newsletters, website updates, social media posts, and other communications for various efforts.
- Attend critical school events to take pictures and videos and record soundbites to tell the Korbel story.
- Proactively pitch stories.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to ensure the consistent and proper application of the brand identity.
- Manage student employees and approve their work.
- Manage and maintain digital signage for the school.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge and previous use of the AP style
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle and effectively prioritize multiple projects at once, meet deadlines, and reprioritize projects.
- Comfortable researching, writing, and translating complex issues in international relations and tailoring communications for the appropriate communications platform.
- SEO knowledge and willingness to learn more.
- A self-starter who is comfortable taking the initiative keeps an attentive eye on the details and has a strategic mindset.
- Experience with photography and video, including editing, uploading, and posting.
- Experience in website maintenance and updates, including familiarity with content management systems and a proficient understanding of HTML.
- Passion for storytelling, both written and visual
- Adobe Creative Cloud
- Knowledge or interest in international affairs or public policy
- Prior experience in social media management
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Creativity and innovation in developing marketing and communication strategies.
- Strong interpersonal skills for building relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field
- Three to five years of related experience
- Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree
- Experience working in higher education, non-profit, or government sectors.
- Prior work with any of the following software: Emma, Salesforce, Drupal, WordPress, and Wrike
- Proven experience in marketing and communications, with a track record of successful campaigns and project management.

The University’s administrative offices are open Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Work schedule may vary.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 9.
Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $55,000 – $65,000.
The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting.
