THIS IS A PART-TIME POSITION -25 HOURS/WEEK.
The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is a world-renowned agency with a long tradition of protecting and promoting health in the nation’s most culturally and linguistically diverse city.
The Office of External Affairs (OEA) manages many of the agency’s most critical interactions with the public, from raising awareness and promoting healthy behaviors to advancing policies and responding to health emergencies.
The Bureau of Communications housed within OEA serves as the agency’s in-house publisher, advertiser and marketer of trendsetting, culturally responsive campaigns and initiatives, maintains several websites, and oversees new and social media outreach and efforts. This position will be housed within the Health Media and Marketing group in the Bureau of Communications.
The group coordinates the creative development of all media and publication education campaigns and, in addition, coordinates placement of ads and educational information in all media, including outdoor advertising, television, radio, internet, mobile and social media channels.
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
Assist the marketing team in the Office of External Affairs.
Assist with the creative development, placement, and evaluation of citywide public health awareness campaigns.
Work with the in-house Media Buyer and contracted vendors to assist in the design of effective media placement.
Assist in coordinating focus groups for testing public health media campaigns.
Assist with measuring the success of public health media campaigns by evaluation campaign results and its effectiveness within the targeted communities.
Perform other required duties/tasks as assigned by Director and Assistant Director.
Minimum Qual Requirements
Qualification Requirements
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State’s department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.
Skills Requirement
Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.
Preferred Skills
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
Strong written, verbal and editing skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and quickly changing environment.
Some experience in branding, marketing and social media planning, a plus.
Familiarity with market research and campaign development, a plus.
Must work well independently and as a team member.
Candidate must be able to commit to 25 hours per week.
