Hiring Department
The Joint Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing (JOSCM for short) promotes the University of Missouri’s mission by uplifting what makes Mizzou, Mizzou – the unique stories, research and pursuits of our faculty, staff and students and their impact on Missouri and the world. We’re here for the success of our Tigers, which is why we have a team dedicated to student communication. Working directly with the Division of Student Affairs, we use well-crafted, actionable messages to ensure students find their place on campus, overcome obstacles, and succeed.
Job Description
We’re the marketing and communication team that works with the Division of Student Affairs. You’re a communication whiz – and relationship management pro – who’s looking to join a mutually supportive team that builds creative solutions to meet our partners’ marketing and messaging needs. Let’s talk.
Do you geek out on working closely with clients to develop and implement marketing and communication plans? Is editing magazine ads in your head, or contemplating the goals of a YouTube ad, your idea of fun? Cool, because we’re all nerds like that.
Sometimes our work is routine and sometimes, honestly, you need to hold onto your hat. In either case, you will be innovating and making recommendations on campaigns, messaging and more. We’re really into collaboration, so while this is not a graphic design or copywriting position, you’ll need to know the look and feel of Mizzou’s brand like the back of your hand. Creative energy always has a home with us.
We don’t care if you’re an extrovert or an introvert. We’ll make room for you just as you are. Relationships are paramount in this job, so do your best, assume the best in others, ask lots of questions, and bring your sense of humor.
While you won’t be supervising any employees, that doesn’t mean you won’t be leading the team as we achieve goals and keep student audiences in mind – when one of us shines we all shine. This also allows you to grow and develop as a professional. Who knows what your future holds?
Oh, and we believe in investing in every person’s strengths – not just because it’s the right thing to do, but because it makes Mizzou better.
Come work for us, flex those communication muscles and craft your job around your passions.
