Trala is a tech-powered online music school. Our mission is to make world-class music education accessible to every single person on Earth.
Right now, music education is so expensive that the joy of music is available only to the rich and urban. Imagine instead a world where all 4 billion people who will pick up an instrument in the next 30 years could get a world-class education. That is the future we’re creating.
Our first product, Trala: Learn Violin, is a mobile application that teaches anyone how to play violin. We do this using movie-quality tutorial videos featuring diverse violinists, signal processing that listens to students play their real violins and gives instant feedback on every mistake, and a curriculum that prioritizes accessibility and diversity.
Over the last 6 years, we’ve gotten 600,000+ downloads of our companion app, taught lessons to students in 183 countries, and earned support from great musicians like Joshua Bell. Our students are ages 5 to 90 and live in rural Montana, Lebanon, tiny Pacific islands, Hong Kong, and our hometown of Chicago. They’ve dreamt of learning violin for years and we’re fulfilling those dreams.
We’re a fully remote team but headquartered in Chicago. Expect to travel to Chicago for an onsite or two.
Requirements
As our first Marketing Intern, you will collaborate directly with the growth team to work towards hitting Trala’s growth targets, with a focus on content. This will include gathering content from our active community for our teacher profile pages, Trala testimonials, and student stories. In addition, you will also create organic content, and assist in coordinating content creation for our paid advertisements. This will greatly support our marketing and sales teams as we work to showcase Trala’s offerings to prospective students.
By effectively collaborating with the growth team to execute the above, you will streamline the process for prospective students getting involved with the Trala community, with the goal of helping them find the perfect violin teacher and sign up for private lessons!

Some of the people you’ll be working with:
- Jeremy von Halle: VP of Growth. RevOps nerd turned growth leader. Picky eater turned Chicago foodie. Considered a rebel for preferring Excel on a Mac vs a PC.
- Jessica: Marketing Coordinator. Likes being outdoors, especially with a cup of tea (or four). Has too many plants and pins.
- Brian: Sales Development Rep. Composer, Keyboardist, Conductor, and proud father. Loves to perform all styles of music and write music for documentary films. Avid movie buff and super-amateur chess player. Has an Emmy but won’t bring it up. On the freaking Academy for the GRAMMYs.
- Katherine: Sales Development Rep. Harpist, violinist (ish), pianist (ish), loves planning and thinking about the best way to plan. Looks forward to hearing about science from her 4th grade sons after school. Is spoiled by her husband who cooks 29 meals out of 30.
- Aaron: Sales Development Rep. Singer, guitarist, songwriter, teacher, seeker. Down with books made of paper, largemouth bass, saying “yes, and”, Buckeyes, and The Beatles. Married up. His three kids still think he’s moderately cool… some of the time.
- Jo: Sales Development Rep. A rad dad who rocks out on the drums, creates art like a boss, collects and listens to all kinds of music, and loves 80s and 90s horror movies. He also has a knack for telling corny dad jokes that’ll make you groan (in a good way).
