Marketing Manager, Marketing & Subscription Strategy, WSJ
The Subscriptions team is responsible for growing the subscriber base of Dow Jones Consumer products globally, across WSJ, Barron’s, MarketWatch and Investor’s Business Daily. The team manages the end-to-end subscription levers across acquisition, engagement, and retention. Within the Marketing org, this role sits in the Marketing and Subscription Strategy team, which sets plans and priorities for each of the lines of business and key strategic focus areas. You will report to our VP of Marketing & Subscription Strategy, WSJ.
Role Overview
The role is responsible for operating and assisting in marketing programs that drive subscription growth initiatives through collaboration with the functional areas within the Subscriptions team and across Dow Jones. The role will work closely with various teams such as data science and analytics, paid media, customer service, product, technology, finance, legal, operations, brand marketing, customer insight, enterprise sales, advertising and editorial to ensure all areas of the business are aligned and working toward the same strategic goals.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the functional teams who are responsible for driving volume and revenue lines for WSJ globally to ensure agreed upon initiatives are moving forward
- Understand and promote a customer-first mindset by sharing key audience segments and using customer insights to drive growth. Be a champion for the customer across the company.
- Serve as the day-to-day executional partner for the functional teams who are responsible for driving growth globally.
- Work closely with data and insight to identify trends and opportunities that support business cases to accelerate subscriber and revenue growth.
- Attend regular meetings with marketing and non-marketing teams to ensure all are delivering on agreed plans that drive strategic goals
- Manage tactical initiatives for cross-functional groups to ensure timely, on-budget execution
- Manage strategic marketing partnerships to expand into new subscriber growth areas.
- Understand the competitive landscape to identify market opportunities and risks.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 7 years experience in a commercial role within a subscription business, experience working in media or publishing sectors is a plus
- Ability to work effectively in a matrixed company model
- Strong collaboration, negotiation and influencing skills
- Use data effectively to make decisions
- A mindset that is data curious, data literate and digital first.
- Ability to communicate appropriately with employees of all levels, stay calm under pressure and manage workload in a fast-paced environment.
- First rate communications and writing skills with the ability to present, as well as efficiency with the Google suite.

Pay Range: $65,000 – $200,000
