Marketing Manager, Thought Leadership

Job Description

Columbia Threadneedle Investments is seeking a marketing manager for our North America thought leadership program. In this role, you’ll manage the production of our investment insights, and support promotional activities to help these insights reach a broad audience of financial advisors and institutional investors. You’ll assist the execution of the thought leadership marketing plan and contribute to its ongoing development with ideas for improving efficiency, transparency, and results. We’re looking for a team player (and a great communicator!) who has a planful approach to juggling multiple projects.

New York Residents Only: The estimated base salary for this role is $88,600 – $119,500 / year. Base salaries are determined in part based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role. Responsibilities

  • At Columbia Threadneedle, thought leadership may include macroeconomic observations, market updates or industry views, and it’s an important way for us to help advisors and institutions navigate investment decisions. You’ll help make sure that the project management and review processes are running smoothly and seek to resolve items that may create delays. You’ll also help manage the thought leadership editorial calendar (including making adjustments as needed) and provide updates to business partners. You’ll initiate jobs with the marketing publishing team and partner on project development. You’ll also initiate and manage compliance review and coordinate governance of published content.
  • Thought leadership includes but is not limited to blogposts, videos, white papers, podcasts, presentations, and webinar scripts. As a marketing manager, you’ll work with partners in marketing and distribution including our digital customer experience team, paid media team, and product marketing managers and national account managers to ensure that our content is out in the world, as many places as it can be, and effectively delivering our message. You also help create and execute on our internal promotion strategy so that our distribution partners know what’s available and where to find it (e.g., Seismic, Hearsay, Allego, etc). We’ll also look to you for ideas on new ways to get our content out into the world.
  • Consumers of thought leadership include financial advisors, individual investors, large institutional investors and pension consultants. We work closely with our internal partners in investments, research, distribution and product to ensure that our message is coordinated with selling efforts and marketing goals. You’ll serve as a main point of contact to provide relevant updates to leaders and team members and to manage expectations with internal/external partners. You’ll help ensure that content delivers appropriate, and consistent product, brand and firm-specific messaging.
  • We measure our results through KPIs such as open rates on emails and page views for our blog, and we’ll ask for your help on increasing marketing results. You’ll play a vital role in the ongoing development of the thought leadership marketing strategy and partner with sales/distribution to ensure that our content is engaging and enhances sales efforts.

Required Qualifications

  • High school degree or GED
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Marketing or communications experience
  • Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple initiatives, priorities and deadlines
  • Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams and business partners
  • Experience with digital marketing
  • Strong listening, written and verbal communication skills
