MU TITLE: Senior Strategic Communications Associate
LOCATION: 403 Gentry Hall, Columbia MO

MU Extension 4-H Center for Youth Development provides leadership and expertise with developing communities of young people across Missouri who are learning citizenship, leadership, and life skills. 4-H is publicly supported by county, state, and federal partners, as well as private resources to enrich the learning experiences of both youth and adults. The Missouri AfterSchool Network (MASN) is housed within the 4-H Center for Youth Development. MASN brings partners together to provide a statewide system for the development, implementation, and ultimate sustainability of high quality, safe, nurturing afterschool programs for extended experiential learning, academic achievement, and social, recreational, and personal life skills development espousing the principals of best practices in youth development for all Missouri students during non-school hours. POSITION OVERVIEW
This position is a full-time benefit-eligible position with the University of Missouri Extension 4-H Center for Youth Development’s Missouri AfterSchool Network (MASN), responsible for creating and implementing an overall communication and marketing strategy for the field of afterschool and MASN. This will include website, social media, print publications, videos, etc. that are used for public awareness, partnership development, and quality improvement initiatives.
This MASN Communications position will design and develop the marketing strategy but present it to other members of the team for overall approval. The position will work as a team member throughout MU Extension.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Develop and maintain a strategic communications plan to support the work of the Missouri AfterSchool Network (MASN).
- Create consistent documents and graphics for use across all MASN projects.
- Supervise student interns carrying out the social media plan and consultants recording and creating videos.
- Write content for websites, blogs, and policy papers promoting the value of afterschool and the work of MASN.
- Facilitate and work with the Afterschool Leadership Team’s committees and attend meetings on behalf of MASN as appropriate.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Conduct all activities in accordance with the Civil Rights Acts, Title IX, Rehabilitation, Americans with Disabilities Act and local, state and region affirmative action plans.
- As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities may be expected to support the mission and purpose of MU Extension.
LEADERSHIP RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Administrative supervision is received from the Director of Communications and Marketing and functional supervision is received from the MASN Associate Director of Partnerships. This position will mentor (or supervise as needed) others, including students, in completing communications duties.

Salary
Salary Range: $52,000.00 – $62,000.00 Annual
Grade: GGS-010

Shift
Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
Two years’ experience in communications/marketing, understanding of afterschool preferred.
