Job Summary:
The Masters swimming coach will be responsible for the creation and daily operations of the Masters swim program at University Recreation & Wellbeing. This position will coordinate daily workouts and drive program growth and member retention.
Responsibilities: Assists with the administration and operation of a recreation, sports or intramural program. Coordinates logistics and may have administrative oversight for one or more programs. Communicates with students and or staff policies and programs, and may assist with marketing and programming.
- 20% Helps with marketing, programming, and publicity for student or other constituent groups
- 20% Maintains and manages program equipment and supplies
- 20% Generates sponsorship for events
- 20% Assists in the development of program policies, guidelines, and procedures
- 20% Instructs program participants in coached swim workouts
Tasks:
- Provide swim instruction for participants in the Masters Swim program including writing workouts for three days a week.
- Lead the workouts twice a week (Tuesday and Thursday mornings) and provide one additional detailed written workout a week.
- Provide individual swimmers with feedback including stroke analysis and goal setting.
- Enforces all Rec Well rules and regulations governing the use of the facility, its equipment, and other property.
- Works cooperatively with other departments.
- Ensures proper usage of various pieces of swimming equipment.
- Assist in promotion, growth, and administration of the Masters swim program.
- Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Ensure proper inspection of facilities prior to the start of instruction and that necessary maintenance has been performed to ensure the safety of staff and participants.

Qualifications:
Required:
- Prior adult swim coaching experience
- Experience creating swim workouts for both individual swimmers and group of swimmers
- First Aid, AED, CPR certified (or ability to obtain the certification within 60 days of employment)
Preferred:
- US Masters Swimming coach certification
Work Type:
It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
Appointment Type, Duration:
Terminal appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended based on need and/or funding.
