Typical Hiring Range: $47,500.00 – $49,500.00 annually (salary to be commensurate with qualifications)

This position has an anticipated work schedule of Monday – Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm, subject to change. Under FLSA guidelines, this position is non-exempt.

Orders, receives, stocks, and issues materials, parts, and equipment used by maintenance and janitorial personnel for County facilities and departments; maintains accurate records.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Contacts vendor/supplier to obtain cost estimates and availability. Establishes follow-up procedures to resolve causes of delay when estimated delivery date is past due.
  • Generates and inputs minor purchase orders in JD Edwards; requests and prints status reports on bi-weekly basis.
  • Selects vendor and issues purchase order. Orders, receives, and ships materials, parts, and equipment.
  • Updates and maintains data in the Materials Inventory Management System for tracking of procurement, receipt, and issuance of materials, parts, and equipment.
  • Reviews inventory reports and work orders to determine type and quantity of materials required, availability of stock and order priority. Researches requests to determine if original equipment or suitable substitute is available.
  • Maintains inventory and records to include counting materials, merchandise, and/or supplies using barcode and automated system to ensure proper stocking.
  • Maintains accurate records of capital assets.
  • Confers with department personnel to determine material usage.
  • Assists maintenance personnel in repairs. Rents appropriate equipment as needed.
  • Serves as back-up Logistic Management Supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of building maintenance (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, etc.) in order to supply correct parts and equipment to maintenance personnel.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
  • Must be detail oriented and ensure accuracy in work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with County staff, vendors, and the general public.
  • Ability to operate a computer, calculator, bar code system, and multi-line telephone system.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • One year of purchasing and inventory management experience.
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and work experience that satisfy the requirements of the job will be considered.

Licenses/Certificates:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) certification, or have the ability to successfully obtain within ninety days of employment.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Must pass conditional post offer background investigation, motor vehicle record check, drug screen, and physical examination.

Work Conditions
Duties are performed both indoors and outdoors and requires the ability to perform laboring tasks in adverse weather and environmental conditions. Must be able to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Must be able to use pallet jack and dolly. Work is performed under varying conditions and requires frequent standing, reaching, climbing, and lifting. Drives a truck in all weather conditions, sometimes transporting hazardous materials such as asbestos, acetylene, argon, other chemicals, and flammable materials.
