Work Site Location: Coeur d’ Alene Campus, ability to occasionally travel to Sandpoint center is preferred
Work Schedule: This part-time position works up to 19 hours per week depending on student needs. Sunday availability is preferred.
Starting pay range: $22 to $29 per hour
Job Summary: This position provides math academic support to NIC students from the start to the finish of their mathematics pathway. This position assists students with completing their math placement, setting math goals, refreshing their math skills, preparing for their first math course, and accessing math support and other student services. Math Consultants support math learning and assist students with developing math study skills and math self-efficacy by facilitating math study groups, preparing math learning resources, and delivering math workshops and non-credit math courses.

Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Math Education, Mathematics, or a related field, and a minimum of three years full-time equivalent experience supporting students in learning mathematics at the high school or college level. Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of students, faculty, and staff from multi-cultural backgrounds.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Ability to support students in introductory math classes through Calculus
• Proficient skills using technology such as web browsers, web apps, and cloud-based tools such as Zoom
• Proficient skills using Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Ability to apply instructional design methodologies and best practices to prepare learning resources for math workshops and non-credit courses
• Ability to communicate in a concise and effective manner, both verbally and in writing
• Ability to demonstrate enthusiasm and flexibility in supporting emergent math support needs
• Knowledgeable in various math coaching methods and able to accommodate the various learning needs of students
• Ability to demonstrate empathy while assisting students confronted by academic or personal difficulties
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
• Ability to create a friendly, welcoming, and inclusive environment
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
