Responsibilities
Responsible for maintaining the grounds of Mayo properties in a manner that promotes safe conditions litter-free, lush turf, beautiful flowers, and other plants during growing season. Also, responsible for snow removal and ice control during winter months. Performs daily maintenance checks on grounds equipment, interacts professionally with patients, visitors, contractors, and Mayo Staff. Cleaning of equipment rooms, fan rooms, incinerator, etc. Works independently and needs minimal direction. Responsible for following appropriate procedure when maintenance requires clean-up involving bodily fluids.
Qualifications
High school education or equivalent. Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school with a certificate in Landscape Horticulture Maintenance; or five consecutive years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to work independently as well as part of a crew. Able to work in a variety of conditions such as heat, cold, noise, dust, and hazardous materials. Ability to operate different types of equipment. Requires good communication skills, the ability to solve problems, adapt to different situations as they arise. Must possess the ability to do a variety of tasks on any given day. Work variety of hours, which may include days, nights, weekends, holidays, on-call, and extended overtime. Must be able to operate and transport all grounds maintenance equipment in a safe manner. Will be expected to perform grounds maintenance duties that occur during a particular season. Must be able to perform light maintenance on all grounds equipment. A valid Minnesota Driver’s License is required depending on position. Must have the ability to obtain a Minnesota Department of Agriculture Pesticide Applicators License.
