Mechanic ‘C’

Job Description

The Tiffany Service Center (TSC) Mechanic C is responsible for the maintenance of various mechanical and electrical systems including HVAC, plumbing, wastewater processing, dust collection systems, kitchen appliances, etc. The Mechanic powers up, shuts downs, and performs preventative maintenance on these systems as scheduled. The Mechanic provides ongoing household maintenance such as cleaning, painting, furniture moves, etc. as well as completes immediate urgent repairs (e.g. leaks) as needed. The Mechanic liaisons with the landlord’s maintenance team as needed and uses their internal communications app in this. This role also supports the TSC security, shipping, receiving, and merchandise documentation functions with packing, unpacking, material handling, trash scans, and other tasks.

Accountabilities

Facilities Operations:

  • Start up and shutdown of all facility related equipment
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on all electrical, mechanical HVAC, exhaust fans, plumbing, gas boosters, air compressor, oxygen generator equipment, etc.
  • Test and inspect all emergency and life safety systems to meet NFPA, OSHA, FM, and all other agency standards and guidelines
  • Maintenance of kitchen appliances
  • Perform housekeeping of facility, restroom maintenance, stocking of break room supplies, garbage collection, garbage scanning, vacuuming, dusting, and general cleaning tasks.
  • Support of administration and compliance of Facilities related services, contracts and programs including escorting contractors and other tradespeople
  • Respond to tenant requests (hot/cold, housekeeping) and perform corrective action or escalate issues to building Management.
  • Install, and learn the maintenance of, new equipment, etc.
  • Perform scheduled checks and inspections of all systems and update logs as needed (air compressors, dust collectors, steamers, exhaust fans, eye wash stations, laser repair units, etc.)
  • Provide daily report of assigned work tickets status, utilize Nuvolo system, create PM tickets and maintain database
  • Assist with TSC operational tasks as needed (packing, unpacking, material handling, etc.)

Special Projects:

  • Support special projects (e.g. night construction work) as needed
  • Assist management with record keeping
  • Participate in cross training and self-training sessions as needed

Safety

  • Understand and follow all safe operating procedures as described by your supervisor and through safety training programs, including personal protective equipment, ergonomics, lock out/tag out, etc.
  • Identify and find solutions for workplace hazards

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Technical/vocational training in HVAC, mechanical, electrical, or similar trades
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in building operations or maintenance
  • Ability to operate a PC using standard Microsoft apps, ability to learn new apps as needed
  • Strong English language communication skills
  • Ability to respond to emergencies during off hours
  • Ability to work alternate schedules as needed, e.g. weekends, evenings
  • New York City FDNY A 35 certification (air compressor) Obtain when position is filled.
  • New York City FDNY G 61 certification (Torch/booster) Obtain when position is filled.
  • New York City FDNY G 46 Certification (Oxygen cylinders) Obtain when position is filled.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in jewelry manufacturing or servicing
  • US driver’s license
  • New York City G 92 certification (chemical handling compliance)

The hiring range for this position ranges from $29 – $40/hr. The rate of pay offered will be dependent upon candidates’ relevant skills and experience.
