The Opportunity
This position is a hybrid work type and can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX; Plano, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Charlotte, NC; Colorado Springs, CO or Tampa, FL. Hybrid roles help employees gain the best of both worlds – collaborating in-person in the office and working from home when needed to achieve focused results.
We are seeking a dedicated Media and Social Marketing Manager to lead the creation, facilitation and/or execution of multi-channel media and social plans for USAA across one or more channels including but not limited to TV, social, digital (online video, search, display, online radio), radio and print. Serves all external media needs corporate-wide for USAA to ensure completion of the marketing strategy through the development and implementation of media planning, buying, and campaign optimization. Ensures paid media is scheduled and delivered according to the marketing plan and complies with the organization’s marketing standards. Responsible for one or more of the following areas: ongoing management of agency resources; developing, socializing and implementing media strategies and campaigns across traditional, social and digital channels; performance monitoring, optimization and reporting; use of data driven insights to drive innovation; channel management; and/or managing budgets.
What you’ll do:
- Identifies and manages existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role.
- Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.
- Follows written risk and compliance policies, standards, and procedures for business activities.
- Develops and optimizes complex, multi-channel strategies; and develops moderately complex multichannel media strategies.
- Collaborates with Media Team to translate and interpret business intelligence and internal client objectives prior to guiding media agencies.
- Collaborates with internal stakeholders and management to understand the parameters for developing media strategies.
- Socializes media recommendations to partners and/or management (ie, explains rationale for media strategy and how it meets business objectives and adheres to media best practices).
- Ensures all necessary client media plans are implemented correctly and in a timely manner.
- Manages moderately complex budget plans.
- Communicates status with management and internal/external partners as needed.
- Serves as a primary resource to team members on escalated matters of an unusual nature.
- Applies advanced knowledge of social and digital marketing principles. Subject matter expert in primary channel.
- Effectively directs agencies to ensure alignment with goals and prioritization.
- Applies an advanced understanding of analytics and measurement tools/techniques to test and optimize performance against objectives.
What you have:
- Bachelor’s degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
- 6 or more years of experience in a marketing, sales, advertising and/or communications function, to include at least 3 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: social marketing, digital marketing, website merchandising, search marketing, mobile marketing, or digital campaign management.
- Advanced knowledge of digital or social marketing industry and practices.
- Experience influencing business decisions.
- Experience facilitating and/or participating in cross-functional teams.
- Experience collaborating with key stakeholders.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Advanced knowledge on impact of social marketing to an omni-channel experience.
What sets you apart:
- Experience managing all major self-serve SEM platforms (Google Ads, Microsoft Ads) and testing new keyword-based channels.
- Experience in search marketing across paid and organic.
- Deep knowledge of programmatic advertising channels across video, audio, DOOH, display, and native using various buying methodologies (CPM, CPC, CPA).
- Experience with primary buying platforms & formats (DV360, Amazon DSP, Yahoo DSP).
- Experience managing major self-serve paid social platforms (Facebook, Snap, Pinterest, TikTok)
- Experience with leading data-driven media technology (Liveramp, Adobe AAM).
- Knowledge of ad verification and brand safety tools (DoubleVerify, IAS, Moat).
- Experience with management of digital media budgets of at least $50M.
- Experience with management of agency relationships and resources, and ability to influence across divisions, departments, and teams.
- Experience in Agile teaming.
- Leadership experience within premier advertising/digital agencies or brands with in-house capabilities.
- Deep understanding of digital tracking practices and performance analytics.

What we offer:
Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $95,250 – $176,800.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
