What does a great Product Manager do?

We are currently seeking a Product Manager to join our Global Product Management team. Product Manager: Pricing is responsible for maintaining and evolving our entire pricing platform. Pricing is the heart of our search systems as well. A successful PM will look for ways to leverage the pricing system to evolve search as well create capabilities that drive efficiencies for our customers. The PM will engage with other PM across Travelport as they interact with the platform. The successful candidate will be part of a team that closely collaborates with our global customer base, which includes the world’s largest airlines, online and offline travel agencies and travel metasearch companies.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for working in concert with the Product Marketing team on market sensing, defining the target customer, what problems they have and the needs the product will address, developing understanding of how the product measures up to competition, and what makes it unique.
  • Responsible for collaborating with customers to develop a deep understanding of their customers’ market and their business processes; will communicate the product roadmap and actively pursue feedback using the appropriate artefact.
  • Represent Travelport at relevant industry working groups and actively contribute to the design of industry solutions. Accountable for managing industry mandates and for executing on the delivery of these.
  • Accountable for executing the product roadmap, facilitating collaboration with internal stakeholders to deliver the product plans and help drive the anticipated value agreed as part of the planning process.
  • Works with a team of Product Managers and Product Owners, and is accountable for driving the quality of the entire product lifecycle for each product under management; acts as an escalation point and is responsible for managing all dependencies across the product families.
  • The Product Manager has content authority for the Program Backlog and is accountable for accepting features as done.
  • Responsible for coordinating and leading the governance of the activities associated with the Product. Enabling a review of the interdependencies between products and scrutinizing performance and delivery against the plan.
  • Ensure that all activities are in compliance with regulatory and legal requirements
  • Responsible for researching and staying up to date with market, design thinking, technology and competitor trends through the appropriate use of tools, resources and stakeholders to qualify new product pipeline opportunities, which will help realize the Product Family Strategy, KPIs and KRs. Accountable for using tools and frameworks to make data driven decisions to test out hypotheses.
  • Accountable for tracking and reporting on status and metrics; forecasting and monitoring the product TCO and product development/management activities against the agreed plan, managing and reporting potential overruns and the performance against the agreed KPIs, KR and the proposed ROI.

What we look for/who would prosper in this role?

  • A good understanding of tech and travel industry trends and functionality and the ability to translate this knowledge into new product ideas and enhancements.
  • Demonstrable familiarity with interfacing and synchronizing multiple systems, including external systems, which both push and pull data.
  • Background in airline fares and pricing and ATPCO data is a plus.
  • 3+ years product manager experience working with agile development teams preferred.
  • Experience of working with and sound understanding of PDLC, Product Management principles, methodologies and tools in a SAFe or Lean/Agile environment.
  • SAFe certification is a plus (SAFe POPM, SAFe Agile Product Manager, SAFe for Teams, Leading SAFe, SAFe Lean Management).
  • Comfortable with data and using data to drive decisions.
  • Communication and influencing skills: adept in communicating technical concepts, scheduling trade-offs and championing new ideas with tech and non-tech stakeholders.
  • Effectively communicates the product vision and product roadmap to stakeholders
  • Leadership skills: portraying passion to motivate others to build great products and create a shared vision across a multi disciplined and/or virtual team
  • Strong process and governance experience;
  • Ambassadorship: professionally represent the product through compelling product demos internally and externally
  • Bachelor’s Degree; MBA preferred

Salary Target: $110,000-$115,000

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
