POSITION SUMMARY: The Medical Assistant provides administrative support and direct care support to nursing, clinical and medical staff.
ACCOUNTABLE AND RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FOLLOWING RESULTS:
- Take medical and psychiatric histories and screenings.
- Assist psychiatrist/APRN during assessments and medication monitoring visits (collect information on current medications, height/weight, blood pressure and enter into system).
- Perform drug screenings and breathalyzers as indicated.
- Monitor and documents vital signs, height/weight, BMI, and performs depression screening.
- Provide administrative support and follow-up to Supervisor, and Medical staff (outreach calls, appointment reminders, etc.).
- Assist in monitoring and tracking clients on MAT including Suboxone.
- Support MD/APRN’s in preparing non-clinical sections of the treatment plans for clients seen as MD/APRN only clients.
- Coordinate with Quest Diagnostics and/or similar phlebotomy capable facilities to ensure clients follow-up with necessary bloodwork and drug screening results.
- Demonstrate basic competency for providing services to clients with co-occurring disorders including an understanding of the Integrated Dual Diagnosis Treatment (IDDT) principles.
- Responsible for accurate, timely completion of necessary documentation.
- Responsible for assisting in the achievement of program/service specific Outcome Measures.
- Ensure compliance with oversight bodies (Joint Commission, DMHAS, SAMHSA, Medicaid, Medicare, etc.).
- Attend training sessions, workshops, seminars as requested by supervisor, or as needed for professional development, or as required for accreditation or licensing.
- May be required to use own vehicle on company business.
- Perform other assignments and duties as assigned.
- Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical Office Assistant certification (CMA or RMA) highly preferred.
- At least 1 year experience in healthcare office/clinic setting required.
- Knowledge of psychiatric illness, substance abuse and general medical practice required.
- Demonstrate exceptional customer service, strong communication and documentation skills.
- Must be proficient with PCs and Microsoft Office Word & Outlook. Ability to navigate through electronic health record.
- Must have and maintain a valid CT drivers license if relocated to CT as a state resident more than 30 days ago. Must maintain an acceptable driving record and be insurable at a reasonable rate under the Organizations auto insurance plan.
