The Home Dialysis Medical Assistant, under the direction of supervisor and/or physician, assists with the normal day-to-day tasks associated with the Home Dialysis Department.
This position will be part of our Home Dialysis team at DCI University Dialysis, Syracuse, NY. This is a growing home dialysis program offering both home hemo dialysis and peritoneal dialysis. We offer patients an alternative to in center dialysis and are quickly becoming a “Home First” clinic. This is a great opportunity for a Medical Assistant who enjoys getting to know patients and working closely with an established interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Compensation: Pay range $18-$24 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience – medical experience preferred, but not necessary.

Responsibilities
What You Can Expect:
- Performs multi-tasks normally associated with a Home Dialysis program.
- Receives and interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records information in patients’ medical records.
- Schedules patients for appointments, makes reminder calls to patients, organizes and inputs billing information.
- Answers phone and triages calls to the RN.
- Required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
- Requests medications, lab tests, diagnostic tests, and specialty referrals upon the physician’s orders.
- Assists the Home Dialysis Team Members with appropriate clerical duties.
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a medical practice.
- Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Performs a variety of tasks.

Education/Training:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Medical assistant certificate and/ or Phlebotomy certification required
- 1-2 years of experience in a related field
