This position will be part of our specialty practice team at Nephrology Consultants of Jacksonville. This is a group of highly trained specialists in the field of nephrology and hypertension with many years of experience in the Jacksonville community. The Medical Office Administrative Assistant is responsible for performing numerous administrative responsibilities in support of clinical operations.
Schedule: Part-time, 30 hours/week
Compensation: Pay range from $16-$18 depending on qualifications and experience

Responsibilities
What You Can Expect:
- Serves as the Medical Record Practitioner for the satellite clinic, is knowledgeable of the policies and procedures, and has responsibility for the initiation, maintenance, security, storage and destruction of patient medical records.
- Answers the phone, forward the calls to the appropriate person, or takes messages.
- Creates memos, correspondence, reports, and other documents as requested.
- Collects and maintains the billing information for all in-center and transient patients. Verifies patient insurance and obtains pre-authorization when required.
- Keys flow sheets, generates reports, balances charges, and checks entries for accuracy.
- Forward reports and backup documentation to Biller.
- Assists AR personnel by notifying patients about delinquent accounts and in collection of accounts as requested.
- Completes log of incoming checks and cash.
- Prints new patient packet of forms for new admissions.
- Prints Transient Packet of forms before arrival of transient patients.
- Assist Social Workers and Dietitians with clerical work and coordinating patient transportation as requested.
- Assist Nurse Manager, Administrator and clinical staff with clerical work as requested.
- Runs audit report and demographic report monthly and makes corrections as necessary.

Education/Training:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Three to six months related experience and/or training.
- Familiarity with medical terminology is preferred.
- Familiarity with a computer, Windows, Microsoft Word and Excel.
