Medical Office Specialist (Part Time)

Compensation: $17.00 per hour

Looking for a flexible position with opportunity to grow? Do you have experience working in a medical office handling insurance claims and inquiries, data entry and well as pharmacy requests? If so, National Youth Advocate Program is seeking an Office Specialist to join our medical team to work with our nursing staff and clients assisting where needed to ensure that day-to-day operations are handled timely and efficiently. This position is 30 hours per week.

Office Specialists with National Youth Advocate Program work administratively as part of an integral service team. Under the general supervision of the Program Supervisor or designee, you will work to ensure that the day to day operations of the office run smoothly.

Responsibilities
• Perform office duties including data entry, filing, copying, typing, and answering phones.
• Take messages as needed.
• Distribute information to employees.
• Maintain clear and concise records in all areas.
• Submit maintenance requests for office machines as needed.
• Track office supplies and request orders.
• Greet and direct guests to appropriate areas.
• Maintain Excel and Word spreadsheets to help organize work.
• Maintain and organize training rooms, conference rooms and common areas.
• Complete payment requests as needed.
• Distribute incoming mail and maintain the postage machine
• Maintain daily training room schedules and ensure adequate supplies are ready for trainings/classes.

Minimum Qualifications
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Previous experience in medical setting highly preferred.
• Flexible availability M-F including two evening shifts per week required.
• Ability to manage and respond to high-volume communications including email effectively.
• Previous experience and proficiency in the use of various office machines, including computers.
• Ability to effectively communicate with insurance providers, clients and staff.
• Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.
• Enthusiastic self-starter; works well independently and as a team member.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and administrative skills.
• Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Driving and Vehicle Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Reliable personal transportation
  • Good driving record
  • Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability
