We are seeking a reliable, dedicated, experienced Medical Oncology Coder (Medical Billing Specialist) to join our growing team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide coding, billing and collection services for medical oncology services on a daily basis to ensure the accuracy within the EMR system.
- Perform billing functions while demonstrating an extensive knowledge in claims generation, charge review, denial management, and appeals processes for HMO, Medi-Cal, Medicare and PPO.
- Review pre-certification/authorization from insurance companies for professional and technical billing associated with prescribed treatment for all modalities.
- Understand drug replacement program and when utilization is required.
- Review assigned accounts, expected payments, and follow up on outstanding payments beyond expected payment cycle.
- Maintain current knowledge and expertise on payor, regulatory and other requirements and changes relating to Medical Oncology, and Radiation Therapy and Imaging as related.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Analytical skills to evaluate Chemotherapy financial analysis on every chemo patient including patients within HMO networks to determine patient’s financial responsibility.
- Ability to multi-task, work independently and problem solve. Demonstrate self-motivation and self-starter qualities.
- Work effectively with others. Collaborate with other staff in department and other departments to ensure continuity and quality of patient care.
- Write effective appeal letters and understand the appeal process for each insurance vendor as required.
REQUIREMENTS
- Excellent computer skills and EMR knowledge
- 3 years of Medical Oncology coding preferred, experience in radiation therapy and/or imaging helpful
- CPC preferred
- BS preferred
