Mental Health Clinical Therapist

Compensation: $50,000 – $55,000

Flexible scheduling with Telehealth, Community-Based or Office-Based options

Clinical Therapists with National Youth Advocate Program provide crisis intervention, de-escalation, and stabilization services to our clients living in or transitioning in or out of the NYAP residential home. As an FDDP Therapist (Front Door Diversion Program) you will provide intensive supportive services that are time-limited; designed to prevent additional mental and behavioral health crises and mitigate adverse health outcomes. This position works closely with external agencies and community partners, offering solutions that utilize the Whole Person Approach to wellness and providing advocacy and support toward the ultimate goal of living safely and successfully in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Completes screenings, assessments and treatment planning to clients living in, or transitioning in or out of, the NYAP residential home.
  • Regularly provides solution-focused, one-on-one therapy or group therapy to FDDP clients
  • Sets goals and utilizes evidence-based treatment modalities to improve outcomes
  • Completes all follow-up care and home visits within the required time limits
  • Reassess safety and provide referrals for behavioral health and other needed services.
  • Prepare and maintain written reports that contain clinical material secure, confidential, and in compliance with state and federal privacy.
  • Develop or participate in the development of safety and crisis management plans to assist individuals in maintaining personal safety and those around them when under increased stress.
  • Actively engage the individual and their natural supports and treatment providers in this process and plan development.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MSW or MaCC; or a Master’s in related human services field from a CSWE accredited college or university
  • Illinois state license in the following areas: LSW, LCSW, LPC, LPCP, or LMFT, preferred but not required.
  • 1+ year of supervised post-graduate experience in mental health or human services.
  • Knowledge of theories and frameworks related to Structural Violence; Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; Institutional Racism; or Mental Health
  • Previous experience in crisis response, substance abuse, juvenile justice, or equivalent
  • Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smartphones and tablets, printers, fax machines, and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs

Other Skills

  • Administrative and supervisory experience, leadership, community engagement, activism
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations of social services, mental health, and children and families, crisis response, and substance abuse

Driving and Vehicle Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Reliable personal transportation
  • Good driving record
  • Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability
