Why does the job exist?
This position is an entry level Behavioral Health Position and will provide treatment for individuals and groups in a correctional setting. The position will provide a wide range of treatment including but not limited to substance abuse, relationship difficulties, trauma, mental illness and crisis intervention. The incumbent will provide direct psychotherapy to individuals, and groups suffering from substance abuse and other mental issues. Employees will conduct case management including counseling, behavior management, coordinate programs, prepare administrative reports, provide consultation to staff, conduct interviews with new inmates for assessment and recommend treatment plans.
How does it get done?
* Provide individual and group psychotherapy for mental health and substance abuse services and treatment to the general inmate population.
* Provide counseling, and programming to dual diagnosed inmate population.
* Tracks patient progress and treatment compliance in case management to evaluate success of therapy and to amend treatment as needed
* Maintains and updates case and record files

Ideal Candidate
Experience in the following:
* Clinician work either in an inpatient or correctional environment
* Handling crisis intervention
* Running substance abuse groups
* Writing substance abuse treatment plans
* Working knowledge of Residential Drug Abuse Programs (RDAP)
Minimum Qualification
Associate’s degree in Human Services or Social Sciences and two (2) years of experience in mental health and/or substance abuse counseling. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Employment Requirements
This position is designated as safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an adult prison environment, which includes daily contact with and supervision of inmates. Willingness to work in a correctional facility, may be required to work odd hours, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
