About the MEP Designer & CAD-BIM Technician
This role is a part of our Commercial New Construction team and is responsible for the MEP design process from conceptual design to final design documents to provide excellence and great customer care (two of our core values!) throughout the whole design and construction process. The MEP Designer is involved with sales presentations, design meetings, and the pre-construction stage of projects.
How You Will Make an Impact:
- Oversee and create designs for all design/build projects. This would be from the conceptual stage to the final design. The design must meet all project stakeholders’ expectations, and keep Haller competitive and current with industry trends.
- Be responsible for keeping up with current industry trends and career development.
- Create schematic designs and provide preliminary equipment specs on design/build projects. These are shared with estimators as they prepare estimates and written proposals.
- Assist estimators in budget pricing and details for specific jobs when required.
- When required attend design development meetings or proposal scope review meetings with clients. Provide 3D coordination when needed.
- Attend design meetings for projects that require design coordination with project stakeholders.
- Create, develop, & maintain MEP design documents throughout constriction and building lifecycles.
- Coordinate engineering review for permitting & code response submissions.
- Strive to build & nurture trusted relationships with GCs and architects that fit with Haller’s culture and strengths.
- Assist or manage existing & new BIM initiatives such as robotic total station, and GNSS equipment.
- Identify potential new revenue opportunities.
- Be responsible for project milestones and issuances including initial project setup/layout, design development, permit submission, construction, major revision, and for record documentation.
- Proficiency in model-based parametric 3D Design.

What We Are Asking from You:
- 3-5 years of design experience; strength in HVAC, Electrical, or Plumbing preferred. Architectural/structural experience will be considered. Newly graduated candidates without experience will be considered on curriculum synopsis and professor/academic and/or internship referral(s).
- Strong technical competency in Autodesk REVIT, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Offices. Navisworks and Autodesk construction cloud experience is valued.
- Work experience with design/build contracting is preferred.
- Experience working in commercial construction and service atmosphere is preferred.
- Knowledge of different architectural building materials and construction is preferred.
- Knowledge in Building Energy analysis and ROI calculations is preferred.
- General knowledge of Energy Management Controls and systems is valued.
- Knowledge of sustainable energy solutions and systems is valued.
- Knowledge of IMC, IPC, ASHRAE, SMACNA, and NEC codes. Additional code knowledge is valued.
- Knowledge of material and installation practices is valued.
- Be an effective communicator and collaborator able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and cope with a stressful industry and deadlines.
- Be adaptable, a quick learner, and detail-oriented.
$55,000 – $85,000 a year
Based on experiences and skillsets.
