As the MEP/ICT BIM Design Manager in the Americas Region, you will be a part of highly creative and efficient team tasked with tackling the most fascinating and challenging problems in designing, building, and operating Amazon owned Data Center facilities within the Americas. As part of the Management team, you will be responsible for working with the organization’s leadership to implement the strategy for our designs and business processes by helping to develop our Innovation and Strategic road-map, define our goals, and execute the tactics for your team.
Key job responsibilities
Daily responsibilities will include managing designers of mechanical, electrical and telecommunication systems of Data Centers, those utilizing Revit to create and maintain BIM models. This includes working with internal groups as well as external suppliers and consultants, manufacturers, vendors, and contractors. Your duties will include:
• Be self-motivated and lead a MEP/ICT BIM Design group as well as within other teams.
• Review and provided comment for detailed Mechanical, Electrical and Telecommunication Revit project models and documents.
• Assist with creating and maintaining BIM templates and enforce BIM standards.
• Staffing and developing your team by through hiring, career development, conducting performance reviews and continuously improving the way your team operates through implementing LEAN principles.
• Manage schedules and budgets.
• approving drawings, developing new standards, and working closely with your counterparts in the other Engineering regions, disciplines, and interfacing teams.
• Lead the project team with information exchange processes between internal and external customers.
• Direct development and reporting of key metrics to management.
• Travel to Data Center sites for engineering evaluations and surveys as required. On Average once or twice a year.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Cumulative of 8+ years of experience in Industrial or Commercial MEP BIM & CAD design
• 2+ years previous people management experience leading direct reports (Staffing, Budgeting, Scheduling, Career development, performance management, salary management)
• Familiarity with BIM Forum standards and specifications.
• Previous experience participating and overseeing MEP drawing production of mission critical facilities (Data Centers, Pharma, Hospitals, etc).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical or electrical Engineering
• Proficient reading and interpreting construction related drawings for all disciplines
• Possess demonstrable leadership and complex problem-solving skills
• Ability to drive the team to implement new tools, procedures, best practices
• Ability to carry drawing and modeling standards through exploration, development, and into deployment/mass production
• Knowledge of building codes and safety regulations
• Ability to think outside of the box to find solutions to reduce costs with no impact on quality and reliability
• Perform complex business case analysis and present the justification to leadership
• Possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail, maintain high quality standards
• Understanding and strong belief in any of the following Continuous Improvement methodologies, practices and concepts (ex: LEAN, Six Sigma, TQM, TPS)
• Experience directly related to Data Center design and construction
• Experience implementing Revit for large facility engineering design
• Experience and knowledge applying Lean principals to design drawing production
• Experience with fast-track design/build projects and or multiple significant upgrade projects
• Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
• Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $93,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
