METROLOGY / LASER TRACKER TECHNICIAN
The Metrology Technician supports the Project Management team by performing precision measuring and modeling for specific project aspects. This work depends on initiative, timeliness, and a high degree of accuracy. The Metrology Technician will be based at our main office located in Deer Park, WA with some travel to jobsites required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
These duties are those typically performed in this position. Employee may not perform all the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties.
Metrology Technician
Utilizes Laser Tracker to determine precise location and measurements of points, elevations, lines and areas for construction
and mechanical alignment purposes.
- Use Laser Tracker to align components to machine coordinates and tolerances as well as for documenting existing conditions
- Work with points in a 3D Cartesian Coordinate System
- Create scatterplots and charts in Excel to clearly showcase data
- Experience with Metrology Equipment and SMR Reflector Measurements
- Familiarity with Point Cloud data, Point Cloud processing, and creating mesh surfaces from Point Cloud data
Mechanical Designer
Supports projects through CAD 3D modeling and the generation of drawings using AutoDesk Inventor, AutoCAD and Microstation in accordance with contract requirements. The modeling and drawings are required to communicate everything from part details to the construction site model with the installation instruction set required to meet the customer’s objectives and KCS quality and efficiency standards.
- Execute requested technical modeling and drawings based on project requirements, specifications and/or calculations or other project team sketches and
- Ensure all completed drawings are accurate prior to review
- Complete redline as built changes. Revise drawings as needed based on written instructions, detailed sketches as directed by Project Managers
- Provide review and interpretation of blueprints and technical drawings as needed
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND EDUCATION
The following generally describes the knowledge and ability required to enter the job and/or learned within a short period of time to successfully perform the assigned duties.
- Associates degree or higher in drafting technology, engineering or closely related field preferred
- Minimum 2 years experience with structural/mechanical modeling and drafting, design methods, techniques and Combination of education and specific job history considered.
- Proficient with Auto desk Inventor (preferred) or Solidworks and Microstation
- Proficient with Vault basic (Inventor PDM), revision management, versions and copy design
- Familiarity with a Leica ATS600 Absolute Tracker
- Familiarity with SpatialAnalyzer Software from New River Kinematics
- Familiarity with TrackerPilot Software
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products and Bluebeam (pdf) products
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics and related specifications
- Knowledge of basic Geometry and Trigonometry
- Proficient with Machinist Measuring tools such as calipers, dial indicators, micrometers, etc.
