South Dakota State University (SDSU) is currently seeking a Microbiologist to join our team! This position will support our Molecular Diagnostics lab with routine testing. The South Dakota Animal Disease Research & Diagnostic Laboratory is a full service, AAVLD accredited diagnostic laboratory that conducts approximately 500,000 veterinary diagnostic tests a year.

Job Responsibilities: To assist with the daily duties of the Molecular Diagnostics section at the Animal Disease Research & Diagnostic Laboratory (ADRDL) including all technical duties related to determine and identify the presence and type of known or unknown pathogenic organisms.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Basic principles and practices of microbiology and general laboratory techniques
  • Molecular tests
  • PROIV and Sandi LIMS systems (preferred)

Skill & Ability to:

  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Problem-solve
  • Follow standard operating procedure (SOP) protocols
  • Work safely with laboratory chemicals, materials and specimens
  • Practice strong attention to detail
  • Work independently and as part of a team
  • Prioritize work to meet competing deadlines

Required License: Valid Driver’s License
