Responsibilities
Peraton has an exciting opportunity for a motivated Mid-level Software Engineer to work on-site with our team in Landover, MD. Our program provides full life cycle support for a large Information Technology (IT) system for the Department of Defense (DoD). This program delivers full life-cycle engineering support for all system elements including Development (hardware, software and networks), Systems and Security Engineering (Integration, testing and Deployment), Sustainment (Logistics, and field support), Network Operations Center (NOC)/Help Desk, and Government user training support for user community.
The Mid-level Software Engineer will be responsible for but not limited to:
- Implement, test and operate advanced software security techniques in compliance with technical reference architecture.
- Perform on-going security testing and code review to improve software security.
- Troubleshoot and debug issues that arise.
- Provide engineering designs for new software solutions to help mitigate security vulnerabilities.
- Contribute to all levels of the architecture.
- Maintain technical documentation.
- Consult team members on secure coding practices.
- Develop a familiarity with new tools and best practices.
**This role is required to provide support, onsite, Mon-Fri**
**This program does allow for a flexible work schedule and is walking distance from a Metro station**
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- An active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility
- Bachelor’s Degree with five (5+) years of experience as a Software Developer in Unix/Linux environment, or Masters Degree and three (3+) years of experience or PhD with no years of experience, or nine (9) years of applicable work experience may be substituted in lieu of degree requirement
- Experience with a relational database, preferably PostgreSQL
- A current/valid Security+ Certification, or equivalent, or the ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire
- Self-starter who can get up to speed quickly and can work independently
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment and possess a team-oriented attitude
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with seven (7) years of experience as a Software Developer in Unix/Linux environment, or Masters Degree and five (5) years of experience or PhD with two (2) years of experience
- Experience with PostgreSQL database
- Experience with C/C++; Spring Boot, Java development a plus
- Knowledge of Linux/Unix and scripting such as Perl, C-shell and other scripting tools/language
- Experience using a configuration management tool, preferably JIRA
- Agile/Scrum methodology is a plus

Target Salary Range
$86,000 – $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
