The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Mid-Level Software Engineer to join the Virtual Warfare Center team located in Berkeley, MO. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

As part of the Virtual Warfare Center (VWC) software engineering team, the selected individual is responsible for developing capabilities for a variety of customers, both internal partners and external contracts. This position requires knowledge of red threat air and ground systems, sensor systems, Command and Control structures and tactical datalinks. The selected engineer will work closely with the customer and systems engineers to develop a simulated environment in which to host virtual simulation experiments. The engineer will develop various toolsets focused on virtual simulation and experimentation with emphasis on threat environment generation. The primary toolset is the Virtual Interactive Simulation Environment (VISE) which is a suite of simulations, components, tools and interfaces which are responsible for the Operator in the Loop (OITL) real time simulation experiments at the VWC. This position is responsible for supporting large experimentation efforts and working closely with both government customers and the warfighter.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Position Responsibilities:

  • As a member of the Virtual Warfare Center virtual simulation team the engineer will work with both the Boeing development team and outside partners on a large scale federated simulation environment.
  • This particular position will focus on our virtual experimentation toolset in support of support of both Internal Research and Development and Contractual Research and Development efforts.
  • The engineer will be required to help determine requirements, develop simulation software, troubleshoot existing software and help create software designs and test plans.

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:

This position requires an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.) This position requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • 2 years’ experience with Linux
  • 3 years’ experience with C++
  • 3 years’ experience with version control systems such as Git or Subversion
  • 3 years’ experience Agile SDLC methodology

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Prior experience with operator in the loop real time Simulation
  • Prior experience with Distributive Interactive Simulation (DIS) standards
  • Prior experience with python
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong team mentality and willingness to contribute

Typical Education/Experience:

  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master +3 years’ related work experience)
  • In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

Summary pay range: $104,550.00 – $141,450.00
