Site Reliability Engineering Intern

The Site Reliability Engineering team (SRE) at Mist Systems (a Juniper Company) is responsible for keeping cloud-based services, streaming frameworks, NoSQL/RDBMS databases and distributed analytical platforms running in multi-cloud environments. We proactively support our Cloud infrastructure to prevent and resolve any infrastructure related issues. As an intern, you will deliver unprecedented IT automation and insight into user experiences driven by our AI services over a geographically distributed customers’ network. A successful candidate has an interest in developing, operating, troubleshooting, and scaling online services and understanding of Linux infrastructures, networking principles, CI/CD tools.

You will learn how to:

  • Proactively monitor, run diagnosis, and provide resolution of issues in Amazon and Google cloud environments. How to analyze failures and provide support for software engineers to debug production issues across microservices and distributed platforms.
  • Run Terraform, Ansible and Kubernetes based cloud infrastructure; install, manage and tune databases such as Postgres, Redis, Cassandra, Elasticsearch.
  • Support streaming data pipelines over Kafka, Flink, Storm, Spark frameworks.
  • Manage CICD pipelines, configuration, automation tools for infrastructure provisioning.
  • Create metrics, reports, dashboards, rules, analize logs and define thresholds for monitoring, notification, alerting and performance management systems.
  • Manage cloud security tools, integrity monitoring, vulnerability scanning and cloud security/compliance monitoring frameworks.
  • Write and maintain runbooks for knowledge driven automated processes and bots.
  • Prepare capacity planning based on performance, usage, and utilization stats.
  • Follow SRE best practices and procedures.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Basic programming skills in Python, Java, or Golang.
  • Basic understanding of monitoring solutions, data processing and AWS/GCP cloud services and deployment solutions.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Nginx, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Packer, Ansible or similar.
  • Experience with CloudWatch or Stackdriver or Prometheus or Graphite.
  • Understanding of data management technologies including relational and non-relational databases such as Postgres, Cassandra, Elasticsearch, Redis.

Minimum Salary: $61,875.00

Maximum Salary:$94,875.00

The pay range for this position is expected to be between $61,875.00 and $94,875.00/year; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes medical benefits, 401(k) eligibility, vacation, sick time, and parental leave. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Juniper’s pay range data is provided in accordance with local state pay transparency regulations. Juniper may post different minimum wage ranges for permanent residency petitions pursuant to US Department of Labor requirements.
