Description:
Middle School Student Success Coordinator needed for the 2023-24 school year.
Qualifications:
- Certified Teacher, School Psychologist, or Social Worker with a minimum of 5 years experience
- Interest and potential to fulfill the role of school administrator
- Professional Educator License with Administrator endorsement
- Collaborative, self-motivated, creative, energetic
- Strong communicator
Responsibilities:
Assume, under close supervision of the principal and/or assistant principal, responsibilities at the building and district level including but not limited to:
- Assist building leadership in supporting SEL programming within the school and provide leadership for work to build and deepen a positive school climate and culture by supporting teachers and MTSS building leadership teams.
- Assist building leadership with daily discipline and student supervision with an emphasis on restorative approaches rather than punitive discipline measures.
- Consults with principals and staff concerning social emotional learning needs of students.
- Uses data to make decisions and adjustments to the SEL programming and restorative discipline approaches.
- Assist building leadership and staff in analyzing and using assessment data to develop instructional improvement plans to increase student achievement and SEL competencies.
- Act as an additional resource person for teachers in regards to student and teaching issues by attending team meetings.
- Oversee and implement cafeteria/recess procedures and guidelines.
- Assist with supervision, evaluation, and assignment of non-certified staff.
- Assist with the creation and implementation of student lessons and interventions that increase student success in meeting the building’s behavior and SEL expectations;
- Act as an additional resource person for teachers in regards to student and teaching issues by attending team meetings.
- Assist with the morning start and afternoon release procedures (e.g. student drop-offs and pick-ups).
- Meet and consult with individual teachers as needed/directed by the principal.
- Plan and organize assemblies and events;
- Assist in allocation of subs and re-assigning of staff to cover teacher absences.
- Act as liaison to the Transportation Coordinator and bus drivers.
- Assume other duties as assigned by the principal.
Deliverables:
- Strong student relationships with adults help lead to decreased discipline concerns and increased safety and restorative practices within schools
- Greater support to teachers and teams helps ensure the integrity and fidelity of implementation of school programs
- Focused and proactive attention to the social/emotional systems will address the need to build social emotional competencies among students
- Increased support to teachers and students increases the principal’s ability to focus on his/her role of instructional leadership
- A designated point person for school safety components (After school supervision, buses, lockers, drills, etc.) increases and encourages parent communication regarding concerns and questions
- Additional administrative support will provide greater capacity to differentiate for student needs by personalizing interactions, responses, and interventions
Working Conditions:
ALLOCATION: 1.0 FTE
TERM: Certified School Year (185 days) plus 10 additional days paid at the per diem amount
REPORTS TO: Middle School Principal/Assistant Principal
SALARY RANGE: $80,000-$95,000
