Job Summary
CalPortland is seeking a Mining Engineer Intern for our Rillito cement plant. This internship is ideal for a student interested in mining engineering.
Compensation
$22.00-$24.00 DOE
Responsibilities
- Complete Safety and MSHA training and any other site/job specific required training
- Carry-out and practice all Safety training and Company policies in the CalPortland workplace
- Additional work with reliability and project engineers
- Assist with mine development projects
- Assist in routine housekeeping and maintenance of the facilities
- Learn about other CalPortland departments and interface as required
- Perform plant tasks as assigned
Education
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering
Requirements/Qualifications
- Availability to work 16 to 24 hours per month during the school year
- Some knowledge and exposure to surveying principles and techniques using drone crafts and associated software packages
- Employee must obtain a FAA Remote Pilot Certificate (Paid for by CalPortland)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Preferably an understanding of drafting/AutoCAD
- Good attendance and punctual
- Ability to work a flexible schedule
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting
- Must possess a valid driver’s license, insurance and be insurable to drive company vehicles
Preferred:
Prior experience or internship in the construction or building materials industry
Conditions of Employment
Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
