Basic Job Functions:
Nucor Skyline is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Mobile Equipment Operator. The role of the Mobile Equipment Operator serves a vital role within the facility’s production team. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Reads work orders or follows oral instructions to determine materials to be moved
• Receives items for shipment, inspects visually for identity, quantity, and condition. Checks for obvious damage and segregates items requiring special handling
• Loads and unloads materials from trucks and rail cars, using forklift or other handling equipment, installing strapping or bracing as needed to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
• Counts specific material in cycle counts.
• Identifies all shipments by proper marking and labeling, including special handling instructions.
• Lifts heavy objects by hand and cleans work area, machines, and equipment. Conducts safety and equipment checks daily.
• Operates machinery such as banding, taping, and sealing.
• Perform detailed equipment inspections and preventative maintenance following OEM specifications.
Reporting to the Yard Foreman, the Mobile Equipment Operator will be an integral member of the Nucor Skyline team who brings a strong and consistent work ethic, strives for continuous improvement, and exhibits good communication skills that will enable them to coordinate with other departments. A successful candidate must be able to work independently as well as in a group, and be willing and able to work off shifts (2nd or 3rd), not to exclude weekends and holidays as operating conditions require. To ensure the success of the Nucor Skyline team, safety must be at the forefront of each duty that is performed by each teammate

Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of experience operating a forklift or heavy equipment
Preferences:
- Strong knowledge and operating abilities specific to Hyster/Caterpillar forklifts
- Basic knowledge of Nucor Skyline products and ability to identify them
