Position Specific Description
NextEra Mobility is focused on accelerating the electrification of fleets by offering integrated solutions spanning charging, renewables, resiliency, vehicle conversion and fleet as a service. The Project and Engineering Manager is responsible for technical project management and engineering for Mobility’s fleet electrification projects. This role will directly impact our goal of aggressively growing our mobility position.
You will be responsible for technical project management for your projects, including:
- Providing pre-construction project schedules
- Providing/managing engineering and pre-construction budgets
- Guiding vendor scope, and supporting customer or vendor negotiations with technical expertise
- Once projects enter construction, coordinating with construction project managers and on-site construction managers to drive project progress
- Ensuring high-quality work product is delivered by cross-functional technical teams
- Regularly reporting status to management and peers
Additionally, you will be responsible for engineering functions on your projects, including:
- Evaluate, recommend, and select appropriate equipment for projects
- Establish, review, and provide recommendations on project engineering scope
- Produce and optimize designs, layouts (using CAD or similar), single-line drawings to support projects – including during land diligence process, cost estimating process, and client engagement/contracting
- Select and manage Engineer of Record (EOR) for projects, and other design/engineering consultants hired by Mobility to support our work
- Develop project engineering packages (often via managing third-party EOR), including provide feedback on/approving drawings from EOR and other design/engineering consultants
- Create engineering drawings to support utility service application, and manage the utility’s work in completing final designs for project service connection
- Source, evaluate, and vet new EV chargers or EV charging solutions, keeping close to technology developments in the market
- Create bid lists for equipment vendors to source equipment from, and provide technical review of equipment vendor bids for projects
- In general, provide civil/electrical engineering expertise on Mobility projects
In this role, you will work closely with the land team as land prospects are evaluated for feasibility and with the late-stage development team as projects advance through detailed engineering and into construction. As the Mobility team’s technical project manager and engineering subject matter expert for your projects, you will coordinate daily with Mobility project developers, estimators, other engineering SMEs, customers, third-party engineering firms, local utilities, and equipment vendors.

- Design experience for electric vehicles (EV) charging infrastructure
- Civil and electrical engineering experience
- Good working knowledge of electrical/parking design industry codes and standards
- Experience with a developer or EPC
- Experience with computer aided design (CAD) or similar
- Project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Schedule-, risk-, and stakeholder-management skills, to manage third-party engineering firm engagements
- Communication skills (written and verbal) and attention to detail
- Self-motivation and a strong work ethic; ability to adapt and re-prioritize as necessary
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline from an ABET accredited program – or similar demonstrated professional experience
Further, experience in these areas is beneficial:
- Experience with solar and energy storage project design/engineering
- Experience with H2/CNG/fuel cell infrastructure design/engineering
Location for this role is Juno Beach, FL. Travel is expected to project sites (20-30%).
Job Overview
This position is responsible for the overall management of the team and assigned projects, to ensure compliance within required budgetary, scheduling, and safety goals. Employees in this role coordinate and manage construction work performed by contractors and/or vendors at the project site. Employees in this role manage the engineering, procurement and construction oversight-activities necessary to develop, license/permit, erect, start-up, and commence commercial operations.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Works collaboratively with resources in various disciplines to determine project priorities and work plans
• Meets corporate objectives with limited project management, scheduling and estimating resources
• Manages department resources to provide effective early-stage project development support
• Ensures projects are efficiently, effectively and safely implemented in accordance with department procedures and policies
• Manages walk down of planned work, validates acceptance of completed work to design requirements, approves contractor payment requests
• Verifies constructability, ensures proper resource allocations, assesses field status and resolves issues as needed
• Leads project meetings and reviews budget, risk tracker, and contingency allocations
• Interfaces with project’s designated management committees, or acts as Executive Director of project activities
• Supervises activities and/or coordinates activities or groups, such as safety programs, engineering, construction, budget, and analysis and contract administration
• Oversees commissioning activities to meet corporate objectives, with limited project management, scheduling and estimating resources
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
