GENERAL SUMMARY
Performs mosquito surveillance by setting weekly traps, applies pesticide chemicals to public grounds and facilities in compliance with city regulations and standards to control mosquitoes and mosquito larvae. Performs a variety of duties involved in spraying for mosquitoes.

SUPERVISION

• General supervision is provided by the Health Official.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. All behaviors comply with the Code of Conduct & Rules of Behavior outlined in Chapter 8 of the General Government Policies and Procedures Manual.
2. (All Drivers with Necessity) Drive to and from destinations as assigned by Supervisor.
3. Conduct inspections to identify standing water sites and other areas conducive to mosquito breeding.
4. Investigate mosquito related complaints.
5. Work toward source reduction by mechanical alteration, education, and possibly by other means as directed.
6. Perform larviciding and mechanical spraying as needed to reduce mosquito populations.
7. Conduct mosquito sampling as needed.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

EXPERIENCE

• No experience required.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES

• Must possess a valid driver’s license.

WORK SCHEDULE

• Monday-Sunday (depending on mosquito outbreak)
• 35+ hours per week
• Daytime and evening shifts

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

Part Time and Seasonal Employees:

PARS ARS 457 Plan enrollment is mandatory for part-time and seasonal employees who work less than 1,000 hours per year.
Each pay period, 6.2% of wages will be deducted from pay and deposited into your PARS ARS account. Contributions are made on a pre-tax basis.
Each pay period, the City will also contribute the equivalent of 1.3% of wages into a PARS ARS account. Employer contributions are deposited on a pre-tax basis.
There is no contribution to Social Security Administration.
