The Department of Design & Construction, Operations Division seeks a highly motivated individual to serve as the Motor Vehicle Operator, reporting to the Assistant Commissioner and the Director of Operations. The Motor Vehicle Operator will serve as the Agency driver. S/he will also be responsible for driving agency Executive staff as they perform their official duties. In addition, S/he will be responsible for delivering and picking up mail and packages to and from various locations, assists in loading and unloading materials, equipment, and passengers. The selected candidate will also serve as a back-up to the Commissioner’s driver. The selected candidate will also prepare trip reports. When not driving the selected candidate will assist in the mail room, Fleet and Facilities when needed.
Minimum Qual Requirements
Education and Experience Requirements: There are no formal education or experience requirements.
Driver License Requirement: By the time you are appointed to this position, you must have a motor vehicle driver license valid in the State of New York. If you have moving violations, license suspension(s) or an accident record, you may be disqualified. This license must be maintained for the duration of your employment.
Preferred Skills
Candidate must demonstrate interpersonal, diplomacy, discretion, reliability, and organizational skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including but not limited to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Can handle confidential and sensitive matters with discretion. Must possess a valid NYS Driver’s license and be familiar with driving in the five boroughs of New York City. This position may require overtime.
