MSIM Private Credit – Senior Associate/Vice President

The Morgan Stanley Private Credit Platform (“MSPC”) is the primary private credit platform at Morgan Stanley. MSPC sits within MSIM and has a proven long-term track record of investing in private credit. We primarily invest in directly originated middle market loans and invests throughout the capital structure across a wide range of industry sectors. Our investment teams bring significant expertise in structuring complex financial transactions and commitment to partnership with world class management teams. MSPC has over $14 billion of investable capital dedicated to private credit across two strategies and 40+ investment professionals with offices in NY, CHI, and LA.

The two dedicated private credit strategies are:

  • Direct Lending – strategy is executed through business development companies, commingled funds and SMAs
  • Opportunistic Credit – strategy is executed through commingled private funds

Role Description:

Newly created role within the Operations team to lead the implementation, process and ongoing oversight of outsourced service provider for loan servicing, cash and position level accounting and reconciliation. The individual will have responsibilities for a broad range of activities pertaining to the operations of the funds including, but not limited to:

  • Lead implementation of outsourced service provider to shadow the activities of the fund administrator
    • Define daily, monthly, quarterly process and deliverables
    • Define daily, monthly, quarterly cash and position reconciliation process between the outsourced provider and fund administrator
    • Design and implementation of the reconciliation and coordination protocols
    • Train and onboard the outsourced providers
    • Establish service level agreements with outsourced service provider(s) to develop efficient processes, reduce operational risks and ensure timely updates of system including trade processing, asset level attribute and weekly, monthly and quarterly service level performance reporting
  • Ongoing oversight of the outsource service provider, including daily review of deliverables
  • Oversight of fund administrator loan servicing team
  • Develop a plan to minimize any operational risks through standardization of processes, enhancement of existing controls and automation, as applicable
  • Able to work on one-off special projects related to loan operations functions
  • Support and participate in the quarter end processes including annual audit, and compliance reporting processes, to the extent required
  • Ability to work on implementation projects for system implementation, technology enhancements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education required, preferred in finance and accounting
  • 5-10 years of relevant operations experience in private credit/direct lending
  • Good Knowledge of loan products, loan servicing processes and implementation of shadow model
  • Prior experience of monitoring outsourced service provider/shadow model preferred
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to interact directly with investment professionals
  • Strong computer skills, especially Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Extremely organized and ability to multi-task
  • Must be meticulous, detail-focused and consistently accurate
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment

Wage Transparency Statement

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $110,000 and $250,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
