Description
Position Overview:
- MST (Multisystemic Therapy) is a cutting edge, intensive family and community-based treatment that addresses the multiple determinants of serious antisocial behavior in juvenile delinquents and offenders.
- The MST Supervisor is a highly energetic, supportive, and engaging team player with strong engagement and QI skills to help staff adhere to the model, thus addressing the multiple factors known to be related to delinquency across the key settings, or systems, within which youth are embedded (e.g., family, peers, school, neighborhood).
- MST strives to promote behavior change in the youth’s natural environment, using the strengths of each system to facilitate change.
- The MST model fits well with our client’s mission statement and values the use of a racial equity lens in the effort to keep families safely together through prevention or reunification.
- The MST model promotes social responsibility, education, economic productivity, community responsibility and an intolerance of violence and prejudice.
Position Qualifications:
- PhD. or Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy or a related subject area, and three years direct clinical experience with adolescents or family systems – including at least one year of previous supervisory experience.
- Two years of being an MST practitioner may be substituted for supervisory experience.
- Bilingual and Biliterate in English and Spanish preferred. LMSW preferred.
Position Specific Duties/Responsibilities:
- Direct supervision of 1 or 2 MST teams (not to exceed 6 – 8 MST Therapists)
- Provide direct MST services to a caseload of 2-3 clients in lieu of a second MST Team.
- Provide clinical direction to therapists during weekly individual and group supervision and during weekly consultation.
- Review therapist’s SOAPs weekly, review audiotapes weekly and conduct field supervisions (target of 2 weekly).
- Provide on-the-job training to new Therapists, and in service training to team.
- Maintenance of MST team: maintenance of EBASE website, checking e mail/phone messages daily, providing coverage to families as needed, chart audits, reviewing red flag cases, maintaining team coverage at 75% staffing, ensure confidentiality adherence, interfacing with larger agency, communication with superior regarding team performance and outcomes.
- Maintain clear and concise documentation of treatment efforts that promote peer and supervisory review and feedback, and that demonstrate compliance with the 9 MST principals and the MST analytical process.
- Collaborate with all relevant systems and key participants within each system to ensure their buy-in and cooperation throughout MST treatment.
- Provide direction regarding clinical treatment using methods compatible with MST principles and practices.
- Participate in all MST training, supervision, and consultation activities.
Preferred experience includes:
- Direct use of pragmatic (i.e., strategic, structural, and functional) family therapies
- Individual therapy with children and adults using cognitive behavioral approaches.
- Marital therapy using behaviorally based approaches.
- Behavioral therapy targeting school behavior and academic performance.
- Implementation of interventions within or between systems in the youth’s natural ecology that affect or influence the behavior of youth (i.e., peer, family, school and neighborhood)
Reporting Relationships:
- The MST Clinical Supervisor reports directly to the Clinical Program Director of MST.
- The MST Clinical Supervisor is responsible for supervision of the MST Therapist and Family Support Caseworker.
Annual Salary: $78,000. $1,500 additive given for bilingual competency.
