MST Psych, MST Emerging Adult, MST Sexually Problematic Therapists

Our client, is an independent, non-governmental, nonprofit international development organization, is seeking a MST Psych, MST Emerging Adult, MST Sexually Problematic Therapists.

Position Overview:
MST-Psych (Multisystemic Therapy- Psychiatric) is an adaption of standard MST that provides intensive family and community based treatment that addresses the multiple behavioral and psychological determinants of serious antisocial behavior in juvenile delinquents and offenders across the key settings, or systems, within which youth are embedded (e.g. family, peers, school, neighborhood). Similar to standard MST, MST-Psych strives to promote behavior change in the youth’s natural environment, using the strengths of each system to facilitate change.

MST-EA (Emerging Adults): Multisystemic Therapy for Emerging Adults (typically ages 17-26) provides intensive individual treatment for young adults who are aging out of the child welfare system to transition to the adult treatment system for their serious mental illness and/or substance misuse treatment, as well as those facing homelessness. The clinical focus is on safety preservation, crisis management, establishing natural supports and increasing life skills to support the youth’s transition into adulthood. Immediate social and family resources are also integrated into treatment to promote a healthy natural social support network for the client and to sustain treatment advances.

MST-Problem Sexual Behavior (PSB) Therapist: Multisystem Therapy program initiated to treat youth with problematic sexual behavior, including youth adjudicated for sexual offenses.

Position Qualifications:

  • Minimum qualifications: Masters’ Degree in a New York State Licensable degree (MSW, CSW, PhD, MFT, MHC), and 12 months as an MST Therapist or 1 year of direct clinical experience in
  • treating adolescents or family systems preferred.

Position Specific Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Case Planner on all cases served through ACS
  • Adheres to all Agency and departmental Safety Procedures including reporting any unsafe practices, equipment and environment, and takes an active role in correcting the unsafe practice, equipment or environment through proper notification.
  • Conduct MST assessment including review of referral information, identifying and engaging key participants, identifying systemic strengths and weaknesses, and developing an analysis of the fit of problem behaviors within the ecological context.
  • Complete and submit comprehensive contemporaneous progress notes, FASPs, Connections and Promis documentation according to MST program, ACS PAMs questions and agency policy
  • Engage primary caregiver and other key participants in active change-oriented treatment by identifying and overcoming barriers to engagement.
  • Implement a problem conceptualization, treatment planning, intervention implementation and outcome review and strategy revision procedure using the MST analytical process.
  • Maintain clear and concise documentation of treatment efforts that promote peer and supervisory review and feedback, and that demonstrate compliance with the 9 MST principals and the MST analytical process.
  • Collaborate with all relevant systems and key participants within each system to ensure their buy-in and cooperation throughout MST treatment.
  • Provide direct clinical treatment using methods compatible with MST principles and practices.
  • Participate in all MST training, supervision and consultation activities.

  • Build a relationship with community stakeholders (i.e., court counselors, other providers, judges, schools, etc.) to ensure cooperation among service providers
  • Manage weekly schedule efficiently and with the flexibility of 24/7 availability to meet with family as needed
  • Provide weekly home visits to families 3 times weekly and no less than 2 times to 5-6 families.
  • Engage in Family Team Conferences
  • Available and flexible to assist with crisis situations 24/7 including evening and weekend hours/visits

Salary: $62K for Level 1, $66K for level 2. +$1500 extra if bilingual. +$4000 if licensed.
