An integral part of the Marketing and Communications team, the Multimedia Specialist reports to the Web and Digital Content Manager, works closely with the media relations manage and is responsible for developing and ensuring Holyoke Community College brand awareness by supporting enrollment, retention, revenue generation, and public relations goals through the development of strategic content-including news, copy, video, and images-for multiple media platforms. The Multimedia Specialist will create compelling video content in support of internal efforts as well as those of the marketing department; work with external videographers on larger projects such as commercials as needed; Engaging a diverse population including current and prospective students, alumni, donors, faculty/staff, and other key audiences. Using analytics, the Multimedia Specialist will track the success of social media content.
- Oversees all of the college social media policy.
- Plans and implements engagement strategies for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and other relevant platforms to support institutional objectives and expand the college’s online presence.
- Creates and publishes original, engaging content that fosters conversation and is appropriate and unique to each social media channel, using a consistent voice that is aligned with both the college brand to promote HCC’s credit and non-credit programs
to target audiences.
- Monitors conversations across social media channels, responds quickly and addresses issues in real time in a manner that is professional, friendly, tactful, and empathetic; follow-up as necessary.
- Provides guidance and support to other social media administrators.
- Creates and sends monthly emails to other social media administrators that contain publishable social media content, including graphics, prompts, etc., for the upcoming month.
- Designs, creates, and edits graphics/images for social media.
- Assists the web content manager in making website edits and updates using the college’s CMS (currently Ingeniux).
- Trains and assists other college administrators/users of institutional social media accounts.
- Assesses ROI by using social media analytics; shares insights and analysis with the director and campus collaborators.
- Prepares social media strategic plans, presentations, and performance reports for key administrators.
- Monitors trends and provides guidance, training, and counsel to colleagues regarding best practices.
- Uses scheduling programs such as TweetDeck and Later to plan content distribution and timing.
- Web Content Manager in the creation and distribution of e-newsletters using Constant Contact or other tools.
- Creates ad content for social media platforms as needed.
- Translates social media and marketing collateral for print and digital usage.
- Works closely with college collaborators including Admissions and Student Engagement to support enrollment and retention goals.
- Must exercise good judgment in the response to the public at all hours of the day.
- This position is responsible for the public voice of the institution, as well as the oversight of social media policy, and any major policy changes.
- Serve on college committees as assigned.
- Performs special projects and related responsibilities as initiated and requested.
REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree and an advanced understanding of social media and analytic tools.
- Experience with CMS and institutional websites.
- Three+ years’ experience developing and analyzing digital/social media marketing campaigns, preferably in a higher education setting.
- A professional portfolio and proven experience developing and implementing campaigns on social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Linkedln and other comparable and emerging social media channels.
- Proficiency in Photoshop, and Microsoft Office suite; working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
- Excellent writing and editing skills and the ability to communicate with diverse audiences.
- Responsible for social media monitoring and website back up evenings and weekends.
- Mature judgment.
