Position Summary:
The National Press and Policy Associate will play a vital role in both the Communications and Research Departments – helping the Policy Director disseminate key legislative information both internally at the DCCC and to incumbent and challenger campaigns, while also helping to craft messaging around that legislation for a wider audience.
Daily duties consist of performing various communication functions working with Press Assistants, the Communications Director, and Regional Press Secretaries. Due to this, taking this position requires the ability to take direction from several different members of the team and quickly adapting to the fast pace of the office is required.
This position is part of a collective bargaining unit.
Responsibilities Include:
- Assist the National Communications Team with paper and pitching, as needed
- Perform daily communications functions, including but not limited to: compiling clips, assisting Regional Press Secretaries with press releases and media monitoring, drafting press materials, and identifying potential news opportunities for the DCCC Communications Department.
- Work with the Policy Director to draft talking points and messaging guidance for internal DCCC use and for external Frontline and Red to Blue campaigns use.
- Monitor Hill proceedings, including committee hearings and floor votes
- Create written memos and present verbal updates to senior staff regarding Hill Proceedings
- Ensures thorough support is provided to the Policy Director on the drafting of memos and other written deliverables to support Democratic campaigns and incumbents.
- Track and maintain the priorities of our target offices.
- Providing updates, background information and answering questions for the Communications, Research, and Executive departments regarding policy issues.
- Participate in outside stakeholder meetings on an as-needed basis.
- Other duties as needed.

Annual Salary: $ 60,000.00
