Negotiations Manager (Hybrid)

This position supports the firm’s global derivatives business by providing essential negotiation and contract administration support for the firm’s ISDA contracts and other OTC derivatives and clearing documentation. In addition to providing essential contract negotiation support, the Negotiation Manager fills a leadership and supervisory role, provides operational/service leadership and direction to the team.

The Negotiation Manager must apply in-depth disciplinary knowledge through provision of value-added perspectives or advisory services and may contribute to the development of new techniques, models and plans within area of expertise. This role will include a focus on managing special projects that arise as a result of regulatory changes of business objectives.

Excellent communication, organizational and diplomacy skills are required. The role generally has responsibility for volume, quality, timeliness of end results and shared responsibility for team planning and budgets. The work of the Negotiation Manager affects an entire area, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the sub-function/job family. Supervisory responsibility, ensuring motivation and development of team through professional leadership to include duties such as performance evaluation, hiring, disciplinary and terminations as well as direction of daily tasks and responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports the firm’s global derivatives business by providing essential negotiation and contract administration support for the firm’s International Swap and Derivatives Association (ISDA) contracts (and associated key trading infrastructure documentation)
  • Facilitates management of negotiators and functions as the Subject Matter Expert (SME)
  • Coordinates all stages of the contract process for the team from the initial drafting through execution
  • Provides guidance to team on issues, including resource management, performance evaluations, internal team policies, and allocation of work within a team or a project
  • In conjunction with a senior manager, oversee negotiators workload, produce monthly reports and provide input in the development of their team’s technical skills and expertise
  • Handles any internal/external escalations and escalate to senior manager when necessary
  • Assists with training and development and ensures workshops set up and there is a free flow of information sharing across teams
  • Provides quality control to ensure consistency of procedures and training materials is frequently reviewed, updated and disseminated
  • Works with global partners with respect to template and formal policy roll out to ensure open flow of communication and consistency where required
  • Follows up with customers, keeping detailed records of negotiations and their status, and keeping abreast of new industry documentation and regulatory developments
  • Facilitate the smooth running and oversight of the Platinum client base legal documentation flow and be expected to provide additional services
  • Coordinate and support the development and implementation of any project related and change initiatives particularly relating to mass scale client outreaches
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience
  • Proven record of managing/mentoring negotiator resources
  • Exhibits confidence and agility in challenging times
  • Creates an environment where people hold themselves to the highest ethical standards

Education:

  • Bachelors/University degree or equivalent experience
