Official Position Description:
Directs &/or performs design, implementation & maintenance of district computer network & networking services, including but not limited to LAN, WAN, Internet, Intranet, CADD, & telecommunications. Coordinates installation and maintenance of host connectivity, multi- platform connectivity, remote dial up and multi protocol implementation (e.g., TCP/IP, SNA, LDAP, CORBA, etc.). Supervises lower-level network administrators, &/or other information technology personnel (e.g., Programmer Specialists, Data Systems Coordinators, CADD coordinators, Network Service Technicians). Coaches staff through developmental assignments & by providing feedback including formal evaluations. Administers or recommends discipline as needed. Interviews & recommends applicants for hire or promotion.
Cooperates with other network & central office administrators for inter-divisional &/or enterprise connectivity & networking solutions. Cooperates with other network & central office administrators for inter-divisional &/or enterprise information technology & CADD solutions. Cooperates with other MIS personnel for inter-divisional &/or enterprise application support and development. Performs protocol analysis; troubleshoots problems.
Maintains state-of-the-art awareness of current (IT) industry information technology offerings and trends; acts as primary representative for departmental IT groups and committee; reviews/evaluates networking & IT software/hardware; prepares reports for tactical & strategic planning, assists in preparing implementation budget for network/IT operations; performs upgrades with other network personnel & host support teams; acts as liaison to DolT or other departments for linking or sharing computers & communications equipment; participates on project teams; acts as project leader when necessary. Utilizes department data warehousing & problem tracking tools to provide result over resource measurements.
Attends industry seminars & conferences which may offer solutions to ODOT core business issues & concerns.

Qualifications
Completion of undergraduate core coursework in computer science or related field which included discussion & use of computer software & hardware; 12 mos. as Network Administrator 3, 67133, or performing like duties to include supervising others in networking.
-Or ECNE or equivalent network certification.
-Or two or more of following or like network certifications: CNE, CBE & MCP.
-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
