We are looking for a News Editor to join us at Express Online. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a vital role in our dynamic newsroom, shaping and setting the news agenda read by millions around the world every day.
Reach Plc is the UK’s largest commercial news publisher. We’re home to more than 130 trusted brands, from national titles like the Mirror, Express, Daily Record and Daily Star, to local brands like MyLondon, BelfastLive and the Manchester Evening News.
Since the start of 2023, we have been building out our US operation, headquartered at 200 Liberty St, New York. We’ve launched three standalone brands in the Mirror US, Express US and the Irish Star, covering news, sport, entertainment, politics and lifestyle – all targeted at US audiences.
We’re now entering a period of rapid growth, and are looking to add ambitious and dynamic talent to our teams.

This role is a hybrid position working both from home and from our New York hub, we are therefore open to candidates commutable to New York. Please note in order to be suitable for this role you must be eligible to work in the US.
Job Description
What will the role involve?
You will be responsible for guiding the team as they cover major stories across the US and abroad. You will work with the news desk and reporters to generate traffic-driving ideas and exclusive stories while helping to guide our team of reporters to cover the stories that matter – from live breaking news to long investigative features and human interest tales.
You will support and develop your team, playing a key role in team expansion and mentoring. You will find and develop stories that will appeal to Express readers, playing a key role in a major national news desk, with a 24/7 digital operation, editing and managing copy to tight deadlines ensuring accuracy.
Qualifications
Who are we looking for?
An experienced journalist with exceptional media law knowledge, you have a strong track record of news editing experience at a national title. You will be full of ideas for agenda-setting stories and instinctively know how to drive the key stories forwards.
You are an experienced people manager who can manage a busy newsdesk and team, ensuring the content they produce matches the high quality of the Express brand. You have first rate communication skills, both written and verbal, a strong understanding of the unique nature of digital news along with a proven love of news and a flair for writing attention grabbing headlines.
