Job Description
Overall Job Summary: The Corporate Communications Specialist is responsible for supporting the Corporate Communications team in advancing H&M’s brand reputation in North America. Working cross-functionally, the Corporate Communications Specialist will play an important role in increasing visibility for key corporate topics including sustainability, Inclusion and Diversity, Corporate Social Responsibility, Business and Tech Innovation among external stakeholders. This role requires strong writing skills as a key qualification and will also support Crisis Communication, proactive Media Relations and the drafting of messages and materials.
This hybrid position is based in New York, NY and is part of our Communications function, and reports to our North America Corporate Communications Manager.
Core Responsibilities includes but is not limited to:
- Supports North America Corporate Communications Manager in the development and implementation of integrated 360-degree communications strategies to raise H&M’s corporate profile in the sales market
- Possesses an in-depth knowledge of the local media landscape and maintains relationships with important corporate and trade media including regional network of press
- Supports in the development and execution of external and internal crisis communications strategy and responses
- Supports in the development and execution of external sustainability communication strategy
- Works with and provides support to the Internal Communications team including messaging creation and /or review, as well as overall strategy alignment
- Possesses a keen understanding of industry trends, media conversations and cultural moments to find new storytelling opportunities that build H&M’s brand relevance and complement fashion press strategies and commercial initiatives
- Work cross-functionally to drive communications efforts across corporate topics including Inclusion and Diversity, Corporate Social Responsibility, Business and Tech Innovation, Leadership and HR initiatives
- Serves as point of contact for information flow between Communications and Customer Service teams, including regular meetings and document sharing
- Assists in the development of corporate press releases and position statements on internal and external communication
- Assists with the creation and / or review of all external and internal releases, messaging and strategies, including fashion, sustainability, labor relations, inclusion and diversity, CSR, expansion, crisis and HR/employer branding
- Maintain the Media Relations inbox, making sure all inquiries are addressed within 24 hours and the appropriate parties are informed of any and all requests
- Drive proactive media relations to generate positive coverage of H&M in business, financial, sustainability and consumer press
- Assists in the development of Corporate and Sustainability calendar of events such as opportunities for conferences, speaking opportunities, industry events
- Manages the research, outreach and attainment of key industry awards and honors
- Assists in the development and creation of all media reporting and presentations for department including weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly reports
- Develops and maintains H&M corporate and sustainability media lists and provides business media analysis as requested
- Maintains the organization of the Media Relations drive ensuring that all relevant information from projects, message, strategies, media lists, photos are organized and accessible to wider team
- Maintains relevant budgets, adhering to all accounting policies set forth by controlling including billing, tracking, reconciling, AP, etc.
Qualifications
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- BS in Communications, Marketing, or relevant field
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in corporate communications or media relations
- Proven strategic planning, media relations and issues/crisis management skills
- Strong leadership skills
- Great interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management as well as with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds
- Strong communicator with ability to negotiate, persuade and counsel effectively
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Established relationships with fashion, corporate and sustainability media
- Ability create and maintain strong relationships with corporate media
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Ability to travel 15% of the year for corporate events

Compensation:
Hiring Range is $86,804 – $97,655 annually**
