Summary
A registered professional nurse who under the direction of the course coordinator is responsible for guiding the students’ learning experiences to achieve the objectives of the course of study.
Essential Functions
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide effective and high quality instruction according to the published course curriculum.
- Keep up with the scholarship of their discipline.
- Support student learning outside of class.
- Maintain accurate scholastic and membership records of students enrolled in classes and submit reports as required.
- Provide competent advising to students and participate in recruitment and retention activities.
- Support their department and the college in the fulfillment of its mission.
- Assist in program and curriculum review, revision and development.
- Participate in implementation and evaluation of curriculum.
- Maintain positive and professional interpersonal relationships with students, faculty, staff and administration at the college.
- Participate in professional development activities to keep up with innovative practices that improve teaching and learning.
- Teach in hybrid or traditional method utilizing the college’s current web-based delivery platform based on program need.
- Maintain office hours which facilitate student and faculty access.
- Maintain open lines of communication via email/Moodle with students, faculty, staff, administration, and community members.
- Serve on college committees as appointed and assigned. Participate in clinical agency, course, and program committee meetings.
- Facilitate student learning of course objectives in the classroom, labs, and clinical settings.
Qualifications
- Current registered nurse in North Carolina with unrestricted license.
- Has at least two (2) years (4000 hours) of experience as a registered nurse in the United States.
- The applicant meets at least one of the following:
a. Completion of a course in teaching adults,
b. Experience in teaching adults, or
c. Experience in supervising nurse aides
4. Possesses:
a. Managerial skills
b. Leadership abilities.
c. Knowledge of teaching-learning principles.
d. Strong clinical competencies.
e. High professional and ethical standards.
f. Responsibility for active participation in professional and civic organizations.
5. Current professional liability insurance at $1,000,000/$3,000,000.
6. Immunization and professional requirements set forth by clinical agencies utilized in the course. Submit an annual Tuberculin skin test and maintain Health Care Provider CPR to Program Coordinator.
