Weyerhaeuser’s Western Timberlands has an opening for a Production Team Member with our Western Regeneration business. This full-time hourly position will be based at our Rochester Regeneration Facility in Rochester, WA with a pay rate of $21.61 per hour. We are looking for our team member to be dedicated to safety, have a positive attitude, excellent work ethic, and a desire to work in an indoor and outdoor environment growing seedlings. The site grows about 20 million conifer seedlings a year for internal and external reforestation customers and produces 3,000 lbs of seed annually to support the business. Western Regeneration is comprised of 4 nurseries and 4 seed orchards throughout Washington and Oregon. The Rochester facility sits on 145 acres and consists of 22 acres of greenhouses and outdoor growing space, 90 acres of seed orchard and a seed cleaning facility.
Key Functions:
- Role model safety, professionalism, integrity, and positive work attitude.
- Team member will flow to the different departments (Seasonal offsite cold storage facility, Seed Orchard, Greenhouse Operations and Seed Plant) of the site to work with those groups at times of peak production. A willingness to work in a dynamic work environment is essential.
- Be a safety leader and participate in safety documentation, record keeping, job hazard analyses, reliable procedures, and required safety training.
- Assist team members in regular duties in the seedling production processes including soil production, sowing, transplanting, irrigation, seedling lifting, packing, shipping, pesticide applications, frost protection, orchard stimulation, cone harvest, seed cleaning, and seed processing.
- Willingness and ability to learn new jobs and skills.
- Communicate with team members and managers to ensure consistent exchange of information relative to position.
- Diagnosis and troubleshooting of irrigation equipment issues and perform preventive maintenance on the irrigation equipment.
- Keep the facility team informed of crop and production activity, safety and environmental concerns and hazards, and provide recommendations or feedback on process improvements.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a high school diploma
- The ability and initiative to work safely, contribute to the safety of team members, and maintain a safe work environment.
- Must have excellent listening and communication skills; ability to read and follow written instructions.
- Must have the ability to work successfully with others and contribute to a positive and productive work environment.
- Willing to wear personal protective equipment always and dress appropriately for an outdoor work environment
- Ability to work overtime as operating conditions require.
- Ability to perform the essential job functions such as bending, stooping, reaching overhead, lifting, and working at heights.
- Willingness and ability to travel to the site on short notice to cover for frost protection
Assets:
- Ability to communicate in Spanish
- Two (2) years employment experience in agricultural related jobs
- Forklift/tractor driver certification
- Pesticide applicator certification or ability to obtain it in a 6-month period
- 2-year technical degree

Paid Time Off or Vacation : We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with paid vacation for up to 3 weeks to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 hours along with paid parental leave for all full time employees.
