Qualifications:
- Three to five years’ experience in PK-12 nutrition service environment
- Preference given to candidates with ServSafe certification
- Such alternative to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Job Tasks: Manage day-to-day operations at Bettendorf Middle School
1. Supervises and instructs kitchen personnel in the safe, proper, and efficient use of all kitchen equipment.
2. Maintains the highest standard of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen.
3. Checks food shipments into the school and signs invoices only after each order has been verified.
4. Load/unload the vehicle and deliver food items and supplies
5. Determines the quantities of each food to be prepared daily.
6. Prepare food according to a planned menu using tested, uniform recipes, and determine if the finished product is of the best quality, both in flavor and appearance, before it is served.
7. Oversees the locking of the storeroom, refrigerators, etc.
8. Place food orders for delivery at Bettendorf Middle School.
9. Has complete knowledge of every task Nutrition Services area and is able to perform in any given area to retain a smooth operating meal service.
10. Reports immediately to the Director any problem or accident occurring in the kitchen or cafeteria area. In case of an accident, notifies the school nurse immediately and files an accident report with the supervisor and the administration office.
11. Evaluates personnel (in writing), and confers with the Director regarding any personnel problems.
12. Reports to the Food/Beverage Vendor any food received that is of inferior quality or is spoiled.
13. Supervises the daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment and the washing and sterilizing of all dishes, silverware, and utensils.
14. Fills out required worksheets and forms (daily, weekly, monthly), and maintains accurate bookkeeping records.
15. Assist with the training of new Nutrition Services personnel with methods of cooking and record keeping.
16. Willing and able to assist with coverage for any position outside of Middle School in the event of an emergency.
17. Performs all other related food service duties as required or directed.
