Primary Responsibilities

The New York/New Jersey Business Development Lead is responsible for coordination and oversight of New York/New Jersey area transportation marketing programs and initiatives. Oversees business development activities for planning, design, and construction programs; works with local operations managers and regional directors in the areas of strategic planning, development of annual and long-term goals, program leadership, client development, community and industry participation, project pursuits, and marketing training.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage transportation marketing efforts, communications and client development with business, operations, marketing and project staff to maximize client satisfaction, company growth and profitability.
  • Manage the development of transportation marketing plans and budgets and implement tracking and reporting of marketing performance indicators, needed actions, and process improvements.
  • Manage marketing staff assigned to transportation business group. Build marketing capabilities through recruitment, mentoring and performance appraisal of marketing staff. Schedule and monitor area office marketing training.
  • Participate in development of strong client relationships and serve as a key client manager for selected clients.
  • Implement company marketing policies and procedures, standards, quality assurance and risk management within the state.
  • Monitor new market trends and participate in development and implementation of local and regional strategic and tactical planning.
  • Facilitate project pursuits, proposal reviews, program evaluations, track client feedback and peer review actions, problem resolution, recognition activities and client functions.
  • Encourage and participate in business and community activities as representative of HDR.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • BS or BA in appropriate engineering discipline or related discipline required.
  • 15 years marketing experience with strategic program development, proposal preparation, and presentation management, or similar related experience.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with New York transportation marketplace clients.
  • Excellent marketing and business development skills in addition to experience in contracts negotiations and building relationships.
  • Existing network of clients in New York is beneficial.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Must work cooperatively and collaboratively with diverse teams, regional, department, technical managers and project staff.
  • Must be committed to quality, improvement and HDR values.

Typical starting pay range for this position is $147,088.00 – $210,125.00 annually/hourly depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
